In the Philippines I have eaten ice cream with chili, pork intestines and fried fat intestines and a few other things . Bicol Express was good but I still don't know what was in it. I draw the line though at trying goats eyes Ballut. I don't like eggs anyway unless they are made of chocolate Grin

I have also had dog and sneak in Vietnam and fill worms and crickets in Thailand.

Except for the ice cream and the Bicol express, I don't think I would want to try the other things again

Raw squid guts - a Japanese bar snack. Yes, I was pissed on sake.

hellokittymania · 14/03/2017 21:42

Flintstone no just no !!

And now since it is nearly 6 AM I am off to enjoy my breakfast ! Grin hopefully not spam although that seems tame compared to what has been mentioned above. The hotels here really don't have much choice for breakfast, not even jam.

Too much to list. A combination of a French ex-DP and 10 years living in China made me a vegan.

Great thread. Need more graphic descriptions of what things tasted like!

Ostrich is nice.
Chicken feet. Awful. Tasted like cross between chicken...and feet.
Raw squid (ordered by accident) put me off all sashimi. Horrid!
Pirhana - bland like cod
Very tiny bit of baby poo explosive nappy change, face in wrong place just enough to taste it for days after!
My local greengrocer sells purple potatoes they are scrummy!

What does dog taste like? Anyone who's resorted to canabalism wins thread... (aaaarghhhh!)

hellokittymania · 14/03/2017 22:27

It's how I feel. Dogs are man's best friend. There are many times, and this is one of them, that I prefer dogs to people.

Mrspotatohead18 · 14/03/2017 22:40

Snails. Frogs legs and meal worms. All vile

hellokittymania · 14/03/2017 22:40

Ok well I respect that. Maybe ignore the thread though if it upsets you

Dog I thought it was beef
Sheep brains (was very ill after)
Crocodile it's fishy with texture of chicken it was horrible
Snake (quite like chicken)
Shark it was very nice
Sea slugs not nice at all
Cow lung (oh it was beyond vile)
Fried insects in Bangkok quite nice didn't really taste if anything

Was offered monkey brain soup turned it down and had vegtable noodles instead

hellokittymania · 14/03/2017 22:54

Has anyone had casu marzu (cheese with um....) creatures?

OP posts:
123bananas · 14/03/2017 22:54

Ooo I forgot chicken feet, didn't mind them.

Ate pig tail the other day, yum.

DH has eaten:

Sheeps eyes, brain, lungs, half a goat head, half a sheeps head, sheep eyeballs, sheeps balls, ostrich egg, kangaroo, ostrich, chicken feet, pig tail, crocodile, conch, turtle.

He refused to eat cow penis.

PickAChew · 14/03/2017 22:58

Chocolate ants and chocolate coated locusts. Ants were like specks of black pepper. The locusts were like soggy kitkat.

DJBaggySmalls · 14/03/2017 22:58

Strawberry ice cream and pickled gherkins during pregnancy number one, then burnt toast.
Calves brain. It was horrible, never again. Like a cold meat blancmange paste.
Frog legs were delicious, like a cross between prawn and chicken.
Chickens feet and pickled pigs trotters.
Pigs head.
Meal worms are best toasted, dried, ground up and mixed with flour. They give it a nutty flavour.
Horse looked like beef but had very little flavour.
Kangaroo was like beef, delicious and tender.
Ostrich looked like beef, not at all like poultry, not as tasty as kangaroo.

ayahuasca · 14/03/2017 23:04

I've eaten casu marzu! I liked it (I have never found a cheese I don't like) but it's supposed to be something AMAZING and it just wasn't.

PickAChew · 14/03/2017 23:07

And yes, Kangaroo and Ostrich are tasty, but a bit like venison steak in that you don't want to overcook them if you don't like chewinf rubber.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/03/2017 23:12

Fish food (the flakes) - tasted like tea.
Dog food - smelled OK, tasted extremely bland (I guess they have to be v careful about salt levels).

Coverup890 · 14/03/2017 23:13

Cat food, brain and kangaroo. All not to bad.

geordiedench · 14/03/2017 23:13

Shark - it's like fishy chicken.

100 year egg - Chinese dish of fermented old egg. They are black and taste cheesy. It was a very small one - maybe a quail's egg, floating in a bowl of rice porridge, but I couldn't eat the whole thing.

kimann · 14/03/2017 23:13

Fish jam
Century eggs (yes - the wee smelling eggs!)
Pig intestines
Duck and chicken feet
Fish head curry
Trotters

And I whole heartedly disagree with the poster who said eating dogs are not as bad as century eggs. Confused
