Bloody hate daylight saving

It has no benefit for me, everyone complains about it, no one seems to know exactly why (farmers? Traffic? Scotland? ww2?) The whole concept of changing the time seems odd.
If you think it's a good idea, why?

Yanbu. I fucking hate it too! They fucking steal an hour out of my weekend and it makes me so mad! Bastards!

Because I love the longer light evenings. Both DD and I suffer from SAD and we need the light.

I remember the government staying on BST one winter when I was at primary school, and walking to school in the dark (this was in South London). That is why we go back to GMT in winter.

I will appreciate the time change. Even with black out curtains I still know the sun is up. If I was getting rid of a change it would be the winter one. The hour doesn't change the fact that I still arrive at work before the sun comes up.

Never bothered me until I had kids, now I'm dreading it. And the can't ever work out how to prepare. Should I be putting him to bed earlier or later? The whole thing messes with my head.

Are you sure you don't mean the October change when clocks go back and days become shorter and it is dark so much earlier in the evening?

If kids normally sleep 7pm and wake at 6am, When the clocks go forward you will put them to bed at 7pm but it will really be 8pm. They will wake at the old 6am which will now be the new 7am. So 7-6 becomes 8-7.

But it balances out over the year, no? I love light mornings, so am annoyed in the spring when just as the mornings are getting light I'm plunged back into darkness again at the end of March. But that's because I leave the house ridiculously early for work.

Everyone's situations and preferences are different. So from my point, YABU.

We'll lose an hour. Thats the one that always gets to me.

People usually complain in October about putting the clocks back. But I think mostly that's because they've somehow forgotten that it's a lot darker for a lot longer in winter anyway.

You aren't being clear. Do you mean stay on British Summer Time all year round and never revert to GMT at the end of each October?

I don't like when clocks go back, but if they didn't then that would make for mornings when it wouldn't get light until quite late. I think towards 9am.

Personally, I don't think that would bother me too much as I prefer lighter evenings. I can see why it would bother some people though, and I guess it is a balancing act.

What's the definitive reason for it?

I always get confused because it happens at one weekend for USA and another one for UK. So every year I see memes on FB and get all confused that I've missed it (and there's no way of telling now that phones etc update automatically) until I google and see that ours hasn't happened yet.

I don't like the time change, myself, but I read somewhere that it is beneficial to farmers. My feeling is that if this makes their lives easier it's worth the slight annoyance it causes me.

It's fucking awful!! My 5yo won't sleep before 9pm (I have tried EVERYTHING) so that means 10pm from now on. Yippee!

I hate the spring change the most as I am starting to enjoy the light mornings on my way to work, but then they disappear for a while again! It's like summer and light are taken away from me!

We changed here last night. I've been all out of sorts all day and am dreading having to wake up tomorrow at 5am, according to my body clock.

I am the opposite.
Love dark nights and cant wait for them to draw in again.

What a shame you hate it. I've been looking forward to it for weeks! It means it'll still be light when I leave work.
