AIBU to really dislike that word and be sick of everyone (mainly chavvy people, sorry...:gets ready for backlash:) banding it around on FB all the time?!

Maybe I'm just unlucky and it's only people I am friends with, but it seems to be the only adjective a lot of people on my FB can use nowadays.

It's always 'Lush meal out for our anniversary' 'Lush day out with the kiddies today' 'Look at my new dog, isn't he Lush'

Arghhh, I just hate it! Also on the list at the moment is 'Bubba' 'Kiddies' and 'Little Man' Angry

Yes, I probably am BU!

I think plimsolls is just as regional as daps tbh. It might be more commonplace, but great swathes of the country's primary aged children (well, Wiltshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire and maybe Dorset, Devon and Cornwall) wouldn't know what a plimsoll was. Also, "plimsoll bag" sounds rubbish whereas "dap bag" doesn't.

wonkyegg · 11/03/2017 18:18

YANBU I detest the word. It makes me want to vomit. As does delish.

WashBasketsAreUs · 11/03/2017 18:26

I couldn't give a reason why the word daps make my teeth itch, it just does!
Also the word belly makes me cringe, again no reason for it. My brother can't bear the word supper for some reason. We're all funny in our own little way!

sophr2017 · 11/03/2017 18:29

The word 'moist' literally makes me want to cry...

AugustRose · 11/03/2017 18:29

I'm definitely chavvy by MN standards then. Originally from the North East and something good was either 'lush' or 'canny'.

On the plimpsolls/pumps issue, we always called them sandshoes in our house but don't know anyone else who does. It's pumps in Cumbria where I live now.

VittysCardigan · 11/03/2017 18:30

Night out on the pier rounded of with chips & gravy from the Regent..

VittysCardigan · 11/03/2017 18:30

Off ffs

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/03/2017 18:34

Chips from Papa's, surely, with those bloody lovely deep fried mushrooms?

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2017 18:51

Weeds I wasn't joking when I said up thread that I sound like Vicky Pollard when I gets going, mind BlushGrin! I am very broad Bristolian. Even when I tries me best to talk all posh or summat.

VittysCardigan · 11/03/2017 18:51

Papas for fish & chips but regent does the best gravy!

Viviennemary · 11/03/2017 18:52

Don't know anyone who says this.

tabithakitty · 11/03/2017 18:52

YANBU. Another hated word of mine is chillax

VittysCardigan · 11/03/2017 18:54

Holibobs makes me irate- we're adults FFS

sophr2017 · 11/03/2017 18:56

Yes Vittys!! Hollibobs sends a shiver down my spine!!

Idrinkandiknowstuff · 11/03/2017 18:56

YANBU, hate it. But the worst one is bae. When I rule the world anyone posting a photo of themselves asleep with the caption "bae coughs me sleeping LOL" will get twenty years hard labour. Thirty if they took the ruddy picture themselves using their feet or somthing.

Idrinkandiknowstuff · 11/03/2017 18:57

Dammit caught not coughs

cowssheephens · 11/03/2017 18:59

Excuse me, we don't say lush in Wales...we say lysh!! Grin

BackInTheRoom · 11/03/2017 19:02

I'm from Gloucestershire and I use lush and say 'lush-on'! I never use 'daps' or 'plimsoles', I use 'pumps' cause they're lush-on ennit!

BackInTheRoom · 11/03/2017 19:03

I hate 'hun' 😡

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/03/2017 19:04

No idea why I thought you were American heman , just something that got lodged in my mind! Deep apologiesSmile

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/03/2017 19:07

Chips and gravy Confused. Nope, Papa's through and through, I'm afraid vittys

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2017 19:21

I'm rather flattered that you thought I was Weeds. I often have to stop myself typing like I talk!

I haven't been to Weston for years. I remember the posh fish and chip restaurant - Coffins I think it was called. I am getting irrationally excited about our upcoming Easter weekend break to DONIFORD BAY! Smile. I am insisting that we go to Watchet harbour!

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/03/2017 19:37

Watchet is lovely he-man. You should try a trip to Lynton and Lynmouth while you are at it! I'm pondering a trip to the Gower so I can take the cat!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 11/03/2017 19:40

DP only ever uses it after a particularly splendid BJ. It's a word I associate with his ex as she says everything is lush, so it is a tricky one as it doesn't feel like the right time to pull him up on it Grin so I just let him lie there feeling happy while I silently seethe!

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2017 20:21

Blige Mark that's very understanding of you Grin.

Ooh thanks Weeds me luvver. I'll have a look at that.
