AIBU to really dislike that word and be sick of everyone (mainly chavvy people, sorry...:gets ready for backlash:) banding it around on FB all the time?!

Maybe I'm just unlucky and it's only people I am friends with, but it seems to be the only adjective a lot of people on my FB can use nowadays.

It's always 'Lush meal out for our anniversary' 'Lush day out with the kiddies today' 'Look at my new dog, isn't he Lush'

Arghhh, I just hate it! Also on the list at the moment is 'Bubba' 'Kiddies' and 'Little Man' Angry

Yes, I probably am BU!

Lush is a colloquial word where I live along with tidy and shunk! I use the word lush a lot! I even have a shunk Tshirt and will be buying a Lush one too! I will add a pic of it too!

madein1995 · 11/03/2017 11:40

I always use Lush, but then I am from the South Wales Valleys so it's normal here. Along with words like Bard, Mun, Duw Grin

tinytemper66 · 11/03/2017 11:47

I live on the coast of S Wales and I use mun, bard, but never butt or duw!

Dixiestamp · 11/03/2017 11:54

Ooh, I must be a bit too close to being a townie (only just into the valleys, see, butt) as we don't really do Duw or bard, mun. I can imagine some Hmm faces at this now!!

Hadenoughoftumble · 11/03/2017 12:06

Oh and I am also guilty of 'now in a minute'. I know it infuriates a lot of people but it's a normal thing to say around here!

Toysaurus · 11/03/2017 12:51

Gert lush that is. Proper job. Though I'm Bristol born n bred, I've never 'eard anyone call it Brizzle. Only Bristawl.

UnbornMortificado · 11/03/2017 12:59

I use it all the time (north east) I'm definitely a chav by Mumsnet standards.

tinytemper66 · 11/03/2017 13:01

Hadenough....I always say "now in a minute".....makes perfect sense to me!

PhyllisWig · 11/03/2017 13:05

South west raised with a south Welsh half of the family so lush very much just normal. My London born DH is not a fan and the day we went uniform shopping and he heard his 7 year old daughter ask for lush daps was a happy one indeed.

FizzySmile · 11/03/2017 13:09

I'm in the West of Scotland, hearing 'lush' more and more here, particularly in 'Susan's' contexts described up-thread, and often on social media eg 'having a lush date-night', 'Have you tried that cocktail, it's totes lush!'
Gives me the rage, ridiculous I know, but it just seems so affected, and fake. The word 'bliss', used in similar contexts also drives me nuts Angry

ILoveCwtches · 11/03/2017 13:11

Lush is said a lot in this house (S.Wales). I remember my Dad being chuffed when I first started saying it as a little kid. I'd learned to speak in Yorkshire so had the associated accent and colloquialisms, at the time. 35 years here has put paid to that!

PNGirl · 11/03/2017 13:26

I'm from Yorkshire, lived in the North East and nowlive on the Wiltshire/Somerset border. Conversations between me and my colleagues are interesting.

"Where's that file to?"
"In't cupboard on't shelf."
"Cheers, me baber!"
"Nee botha."

thefairyfellersmasterstroke · 11/03/2017 13:36

Is it only in Scotland that a lush is an alcoholic then?

We used to 'clap' our pets, but not heard anyone say that in years. I like 'smooth' though! Grin

Dixiestamp · 11/03/2017 13:42

'Where's it to?' 'It's over yer' 'oh, over by there, I'll get it now in a minute'. My friends uni used to think my other Welsh flatmate and I were speaking a different language!.

HumpMeBogart · 11/03/2017 13:44

North-east here too. I love 'dead lush'.

'Hubby', on the other hand, makes my teeth itch.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 11/03/2017 13:47

Does anyonelse say when they have a small cut or graze "I've got a baaardie!" or "she's got a baaardie leg"?

IAmStressedRightOut · 11/03/2017 13:48

I hate the word lush, in particular when my DSis says it- I also hate it when my mum calls me "beauts" shudders

Purplepotatoe · 11/03/2017 13:58

I say lush a lot, I'm not remotely chavvy. It's a word used often where I'm from. I do however think that people who spend time on Facebook are pretty chavvy, especially those ones that then take their time out of their Saturday's to write about Facebook on another internet forum because they're not brave enough to write on the posts they're pouring over.

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2017 14:10

I would say 'baaaaaadie' sukey. And it would be because I had a nasty scrage (graze/scratch). I sounds proper chav though. Like Vicky Pollard or summat when I gets goin', mind.

absolutelynotfabulous · 11/03/2017 14:26

Another Valleys person here. Yes to baaard, duw, mun and tidy. And butt, of course.

Anyone heard of "bosh" for sink?

Dixiestamp · 11/03/2017 14:40

My Bamp used to say 'bosh' but not many other people I know do. We have 'baaadies' as well when we are little!

Welshmaenad · 11/03/2017 14:51

South Walian here.

I cowing love smoothing my cat, it's lush. Till she scrams me.

HookandSwan · 11/03/2017 14:52

Omg thank you!!!!! I hate it soo so much lol!!

Welshmaenad · 11/03/2017 14:53

Absolutelynotfabulous yes, when you're bard under the doctor Grin

HookandSwan · 11/03/2017 14:54

Also hate bubba little man etc. It's one of those irrational Things lol just those words are like cotton wool!
