To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

I work in a homeless hostel and I've never heard of anyone getting free gym memberships. Hmm

PortiaCastis · 09/03/2017 20:33

How does she know children are going without? Hmm yes apparently the person in question has said so on facebrag

Natsku · 09/03/2017 20:34

Unemployed get discount entrance to swimming pools, zoos, museums and things like that in my country, probably gym memberships too. Makes sense to me, they've got less money so making it cost less for them makes them more likely to be customers meaning more money all round. And so their kids don't suffer just because their parents don't have jobs.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:34

DianaMemorialJam my late Grandad, had a nasty bastard right temperamental parrot when we were children.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 09/03/2017 20:35

I notice the OP hasn't apologised for the bullet through the head comment

Yeah, you won't notice that. Because I'm not going to.

Free gym memberships my arse.

You will be telling us David Lloyd is the provider.

I paid for my gym membership from my JSA. The only reductions were for full time students and members of the emergency services.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 20:36

People gave me lifts to go to hospital to be with my daughter. It was okay, though, she was one of those bald headed kids with cancer. Hmm

'I think high housing costs and low wages are largely to blame but it still irks.'

It should irk you that a select few are holding housing and decent jobs to ransom! The vast majority of 'welfare' is to people who are in work.

Sallystyle · 09/03/2017 20:36

I am on tax credits but I do work part time.

Is it ok that I have 8 tattoos? Not sure if it came out of my wages or TC as the money all goes in one pot.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 09/03/2017 20:36

I've never heard of the discounted entry to things and gym memberships! (That'll teach me for being in the queue for a goat instead...)

I have, however, heard of the job center organising discounted bus passes for those on job seekers allowance to help them get to job interviews and (hopefully) work for the first couple weeks.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:37

Draylon because it was a couple that I knew. (knew of through mutual friends & no DV). They'd spent the week previous moaning to everyone they couldn't afford world book day costumes.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 09/03/2017 20:37

*Yabu

No idea if she even pays for her tattoos. I know someone who has a tattoo studio and is always tattooing friends for nothing - does it in down time when no clients are booked although I doubt they've paid for a cab ride / night out / meal in a long time. How do you know hers aren't gotten like this?*

Because she told me it cost £165.

My son has ASD and often won't eat 'wholesome' food. Judge away! I have to make sure he eats something and he does get vitamin supplements.

FriendofBill · 09/03/2017 20:38

Her life is none of your business.

It's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!

Winteriscominginnit · 09/03/2017 20:38

I agree with you OP.

BitchQueen90 · 09/03/2017 20:39

Sally the OP was deliberately trying to start a benefits bashing thread. Otherwise why mention benefits in the first place? OP could have just said about the tattoo and the kids eating pot noodles or whatever.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:39

How does she know children are going without?

I don't think the OP does Portia. They'd probably think my DCs were going without if they only had a pot noodle for tea. My DCs however would think all their Christmases had come early as I very rarely let them have one Grin

maddiemookins16mum · 09/03/2017 20:40

FFS, there are loads of lazy arsed, chavvy, scum, pot noodle feeding mums. There are also the same dads. I judge them, too fuckin right. I work 55 hours a week.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:41

Natsku well yes I agree but I've always had to pay full entrance to museums etc. (UK) What country are you in?

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/03/2017 20:41

OP the day I need approval from someone who speaks as negatively as you, I really will be an idiot. I never once said I approved of neglectful parenting, because I don't, what I disapprove of is your clear assumption that because someone is on benefits you have a say in their life. Whether someone is on £50k a year or on benefits, a shit parent is a shit parent. You say you have no issue with people on benefits, but you're like those folk that start a sentence with "I'm not racist.....but" and then go on to say something horrendous.
Call me names all you like, I couldn't give a fuck.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:43

Because she told me it cost £165.

OP. Do you consider yourself to be her friend?

PollytheDolly · 09/03/2017 20:44

I receive ctc and wtc. I bought an M & S salad for my lunch at work today.oh and i paid for my train ticket. Oh and i am drinking a glass of wine from a bottle I bought yesterday (tough day).
Do you want more of a shopping list OP?

How very dare you! Go stand in the corner. I mean, you didn't even think to buy a pot noodle? I'm disgusted.

Natsku · 09/03/2017 20:44

Finland Awaywith The museums in my town give completely free entrance for the unemployed even.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:44

Whether someone is on £50k a year or on benefits, a shit parent is a shit parent.

^^Amen to this.

I don't suppose it much matters whether you apologise for that comment. You've been deleted anyway.
