To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

I notice the OP hasn't apologised for the bullet through the head comment

Yeah, you won't notice that. Because I'm not going to.

So, what would you give rapists? Take their eyes out with spoons, drag them naked through gravel, feed them to rats and then throw them into a pit of broken glass?

More seriously, if you are concerned about the children's welfare, what have SS said when you reported her?

DianaMemorialJam · 09/03/2017 20:48

Pixies they're absolute nutters.

And yeah, that's a great point. If the thread was supposed to be a comment on her shit parenting, why did you even need to mention where her income is from?

You could have just said 'she buys tattoos but the kids go without etc etc'

Sparklydress · 09/03/2017 20:49

They do in my part of the South East too, it's 2/3 off for swimming, gym etc. Music lessons are provided free too in some primary schools, although I suspect that the budget for this is going soon.

This is a good use of money IMO, it benefits the family in so many ways.

Whilst I don't agree with the OP, I do think that a lot of you have piled in on her, the irony of some of you telling her to help the women while laying in to her is a bit rich.

Maybe she isn't a troll?

I so wish that the goat and flat screen comments would go too, it just is so boring...

Lweji · 09/03/2017 20:50

But you will never convince me that this woman is correct in wasting tax payers money on shit body art.

Ups, sorry. You're not at all concerned about the children. Just your tax pounds.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/03/2017 20:52

OP if your thread title was "AIBU to be pissed off at someone letting their kids go without to treat themselves" the resounding answer would have been YANBU, it's your attitude towards people on benefits that has got you the reaction you've had. That and the fact you're not very nice.

Lugeeta · 09/03/2017 20:52

Most people on this thread thing it's good that this Mum spends lots of money on tattoos instead of getting her children swimming lessons or healthy food? !

If you have spare money it's no one else's business what you spend it on but I think food and swimming lessons are pretty basic necessities when you have children. I think IRL most people would be judgy!

gillybeanz · 09/03/2017 20:53

OP, my benefits (tax credits) pay for my child's schooling. She gets them all the benefits and the tax payers like you pay the rest.
Something tells me that you won't like this either, because you just want to benefit bash.
I do work pt btw. The job I have rarely take on ft staff and everyone wants them.
I do the overtime I'm entitled to do/ by the company but it's not much.

BitchQueen90 · 09/03/2017 20:53

I am still curious to know this woman's circumstances, OP, since you know so much about her. As I stated previously she would have to have a good reason to still be receiving welfare as her DC are school age.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:54

But you will never convince me that this woman is correct in wasting tax payers money on shit body art.

What did SS say when you reported your concerns about her neglecting the children by wasting taxpayers money on body art? To be fair some of it is shit. But then there's some brilliant tattoos too. Anyway. Back to tattoo mums DCs. As you were Mumsnet.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:56

I must have missed those posts. Where did anyone say it was good. Confused

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 21:00

It's chilling that a person can have people on FB, maybe that she even knows in real life, who think she should be murdered and would even be okay with doing that themselves. What does the father of her children spend his money on?

user123346 · 09/03/2017 21:01

Well a " decent " mother would be making sure her kids were fed properly before spending money on other things.

PortiaCastis · 09/03/2017 21:03

We don't know for sure that this Mum is not feeding her dc properly do we?

PollytheDolly · 09/03/2017 21:03

Most people on this thread thing it's good that this Mum spends lots of money on tattoos instead of getting her children swimming lessons or healthy food? !

Actually I don't. It's the way OP went about it.

CheeseonTwats · 09/03/2017 21:05

I must be missing something here, OP was annoyed about someone she knows who spends the money that is given to her for her children on frivolous things thus leaving her children to go without the essentials that the money was supposed to be used for.

Why is OP wrong?

Alfieisnoisy · 09/03/2017 21:05

Blimey, I am on benefits as DS is autistic, I get extra benefits because of this. I still couldn't afford to spend £165 on a tattoo...and I only have the one child.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 09/03/2017 21:09

No one should have a shit tattoo. Pot Noodles come in macaroni and cheese flavour now. Everyone on benefits should live in a shoe, not a shoe each, the same shoe.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 21:09

'Blimey, I am on benefits as DS is autistic, I get extra benefits because of this. I still couldn't afford to spend £165 on a tattoo...and I only have the one child.'

So do you think a person who does should be shot? The OP does.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 09/03/2017 21:09

OP. Do you consider yourself to be her friend?

Not really, no. More of an acquaintance. I am, however, friends with her twin sister who is always saying how her twin is a scrounger, lazy, work shy etc.
My friend is also on benefits because her husband is on a low income, but would never dream of spending her cash on shit tattoos instead of feeding her children. You all want so badly for this to be a post about knocking people on benefits. But it's not. It's a post about twats who get shit tattoos paid for with the money given to them to feed and clothe their kids. Projecting, much? Feeling guilty about the crap body art paid for by people who work? Only on Mumsnet.

The revelation about Mac n cheese Pot Noodle is the only positive thing about this thread

Lweji · 09/03/2017 21:17

So, you're her twin sister. What do your parents say about it all?
