To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

Lweji - I was going to say the same thing! It's only a matter of time before all benefits claimants (especially us skiving, workshy sickness/disability claimants) will have to provide an itemised list of exactly what they are spending their 'handouts' from the hardworking tax payers,on. Any mention of cigarettes, alcohol, tatoos, piercings or pot noodles and their money will be cut immediately.

Yes, or it could be going to a feckless work shy bloke who treats women like shit - what is your point?

That the person you describe in in the minority, and you sound like a Daily Mail reader Grin

HumpMeBogart · 09/03/2017 20:12

This same woman was recently asking on Facebook for a lift to hospital to see her son.

If her child is sick, maybe she can't work, rather than being too lazy to work?

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 09/03/2017 20:13

And I'm the goady fucker? I've never said, or thought for that matter, that the internet or a mobile phone are something people on benefits shouldn't have. That's ludicrous. But they shouldn't be spending their fucking money on tattoos when the kids are going without. Why is that difficult for so many of you to understand? I'm guessing it isn't. I'm guessing you're all either tattooed to fuck and making son's other cunt pay for it. If you just love an argument as much as you think I do.
I've stated that I have nothing against benefit claimants. I've stated that 'there for the grace of God go i' and if my husband ditched me I'd feel no guilt in claiming benefits. But you will never convince me that this woman is correct in wasting tax payers money on shit body art.

I think Daily Mail reader should replace Godwins Law on Mumsnet. It is such a lame response, used by people who can't be arsed to actually read a post before they squawk Daily Mail like a brainless parrot. I make a point of never engaging with parrots as they just spout words without thought behind them.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/03/2017 20:17

Funny that, I usually make a point of not engaging with patronising bigots who spout stereotypes and spread hatred and prejudice. My mistake.

Dawndonnaagain · 09/03/2017 20:20

You could have gone to the library, Dawn. How could you?
It got closed down and now they've all got free goats but no books!

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:20

EmzDisco you most certainly can not.

The other swimmers don't want to catch poor off you Wink

You're an idiot. You really are. How is objecting to pissing your benefits up the wall while the kids go without spreading hatred and prejudice?

Have you ever met a parrot? They can be nutty bastards if they don't like the look of you.

I would stay away if I were you.

DianaMemorialJam · 09/03/2017 20:22

And bythesea don't be embarrassed about being a daily mail reader, none of us are perfect dear.

DianaMemorialJam · 09/03/2017 20:26

weasley you had better be sharing that round! Sweet or salty?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/03/2017 20:26

It's not OP. But I was a lot more pissed off that I was looking like I 'couldnt cope' by the DCs last school because I was spotted to have holes in my shoes. I didn't have enough to buy myself a new pair of shoes that week someone expressed concerns as I'd just forked out on new coats and shoes for both DCs. Yet the twats who waltzed in stinking of weed at 8:30am were never people the staff had concerns about even though their own DCs clothes were looking worse for wear.

ilovesooty · 09/03/2017 20:27

I notice the OP hasn't apologised for the bullet through the head comment.

I've got to say I actually agree with OP, really winds me up.

Can I add as well that I don't understand why unemployed people receive a free gym membership. Before I get jumped on, yes, if you cannot work surfaces to disability etc. then I completely agree with the gym membership...

Me and DH work full time (he actually has two jobs, one full time and one evening job) and we cannot afford gym memberships.

Sonnet · 09/03/2017 20:29

Toobloodytired - so what happens when your 9 month old baby goes to school? You will have been out of the job market/your career for 4 years. Not easy to get back to. Sometimes you have to make the sacrifice to keep a hold in the job market for the future.

PeachPants · 09/03/2017 20:29

Surfaces=due to!

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 20:30

'And I'm the goady fucker? '

Sure, you're not, suggesting that murder of people is a viable option Hmm.

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 09/03/2017 20:31

Where do I sign for free gym membership?!?!?!

Sallysadlyseescertainty · 09/03/2017 20:31

The OP has said she has nothing against benefit claimants. Confused

All she's saying is the mother in question is not making a responsible choice as a parent, by getting tattooed, when her children are going without (swimming and decent, wholesome food).

However, op, your bullet in the head comment was absolutely outrageous. Hmm

lovetonamechange · 09/03/2017 20:32

Yabu

No idea if she even pays for her tattoos. I know someone who has a tattoo studio and is always tattooing friends for nothing - does it in down time when no clients are booked although I doubt they've paid for a cab ride / night out / meal in a long time. How do you know hers aren't gotten like this?
