To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

Oh you're on benefits but you can afford the internet and a smartphone eh awaywiththepixies? You disgusting benefit scrounger!!! Grin #joking

If you don't like the filthy underclass people on benefits spending on tats OP, what IS OK for them to spend their money on? What would you ALLOW them to spend the money on?

ClopySow · 09/03/2017 19:37

I thought the pride comment was related to the crocs comment.

OP you started your post stating you knew you were going to get shot down for it. You didn't get shot down for the sentiment, you got shot down for the trashy, bigoted way you've presented it.

anxious2017 · 09/03/2017 19:38

I don't know how people on benefits do it tbh. I'm disabled and DH works full time. We have one child and we can barely afford to eat let alone anything else. I'm trying to Go Fund myself a wheelchair because we can't afford one.

SecretWitch · 09/03/2017 19:39

I just had THUGLIFE tattooed on my chest using my benefits

ItsNachoCheese · 09/03/2017 19:40

Have my first ever Biscuit and i say that as a single parent that shock horror has tattoos and even more shockingly makes sure all my sons need are met first and foremost before anything

EmzDisco · 09/03/2017 19:42

So is there a list of things you are allowed to spend your benefits money on then?

I love sweet and sour pot noodles. I'm not working at the moment, but not claiming benefits. I have 1 tattoo from 10 years ago not paid for by tax payers. Does this mean I can go swimming or not?

ilovesooty · 09/03/2017 19:43

I might comment on why the OP started the thread but I don't particularly want to be deleted.

😂

Yeah it's a battered old Nokia with a crack right through the screen that my dad bought me for christmas. It's okay because it weren't bought out my benefits innit? Thank god he didn't go with his first choice of paying for me to go to a tattoo parlour Grin

Afraid the dairy milk addiction I have I can't explain away so easily though Wink

Paying all your bills bar rent if you are lucky and eating on 73 ish per week is o so attractive.

Elledouble · 09/03/2017 19:51

I get free tattoos with my benefits. And a helicopter and a tv as big as a bus and a Maserati.

God forbid people on benefits have anything nice, eh?

RachelRagged · 09/03/2017 19:51

OP admits she is a cunt .

Says it all . Goady fucker I might add.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 19:52

Oh, yes, the ol' 'You can afford the internet and a computer or phone!' 'You can use the library' - which, if you still have one open, usually only allows half-hour slots for use and you need to demonstrate more than that to receive your JSA or WARG ESA.

It was the same thing with refugees. 'How can they have phones and internet?' They are fleeing a fucking war, not the 18th century.

Catlady1976 · 09/03/2017 19:53

Isn't pensions included in welfare or am I wrong?

blondiebonce · 09/03/2017 19:54

Curious to see how quickly your smug smile would last if your partner left/you or him or both lost your jobs....it's a fairly long list.

TheNaze73 · 09/03/2017 19:55

I've had Amber Leaf tattooed on my calf

Dawndonnaagain · 09/03/2017 19:56

I spent some of my benefit money on a book today. Is that any better, noknickers?

ClopySow · 09/03/2017 19:56

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 09/03/2017 19:57

expat Finally someone said it!! Grin

expatinscotland · 09/03/2017 19:58

You could have gone to the library, Dawn. How could you?

Catlady1976 · 09/03/2017 19:58

Got that wrong.

ClopySow · 09/03/2017 19:59

expat i got into a bit of a ding dong on facebook with a guy who commented "why does a homeless person have facebook" and then went on to suggest he should sell his mobile to get himself off the street. Hmm

ithakabythesea · 09/03/2017 20:03

I used to think pensions were included in welfare, but when I got my summary this year I found out I 'gave' 2434 pounds to welfare and 1937 to pensions. I 'gave' more to welfare than I did to either education or health, which does not sit that comfortably with me - I think high housing costs and low wages are largely to blame but it still irks.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/03/2017 20:06

That £2434 could be going to someone with a disability who has no other choice than to be on benefits, or a mum fleeing DV.

ithakabythesea · 09/03/2017 20:09

Yes, or it could be going to a feckless work shy bloke who treats women like shit - what is your point?
