Meh, my sister "earned" 22k a year for 9 years with one child, an all inc holiday in Spain every year, 20 fags a day, housing association home (all repairs, new kitchen, bathroom), they even paid someone to trim her fringe of a front garden.
It wasn't until the Labour gvt were ousted that she "had to" get a job.
She did (because she had to). She has admitted to me more than once, she was living the life of Riley for years (Xboxes at Christmas etc).
Now, 15 or so years later, she is managing a Care Home, because she was told she had to work.
Her Niece, working full time, privately renting took home £16,500 in the same era. No holidays, fags, etc. With one child.
Not everyone on benefits is living the "life of Riley", far from it. But there are also families "earning" less (still) than those who don't work at all who "take home" more.
