To wonder why people don't bother with reflective clothing at night

Why is it that fewer coats and jackets seem to have reflective patches on them? Just got back home and I'm amazed at the number of people dressed head to toe in dark clothing who just walk out into the road without looking when crossing (at night and daytime although clothing is obviously less relevant in the day!)

The last 2 winter coats my eldest DC has have nothing reflective on them (fat Face and gap) so I put stickers on them. Is it just me or are people just not bothered about road safety?

I agree, where I live the roads are very poorly lit, the street lights don't provide strong enough light anymore, some are even turned off after a certain time, which makes it very difficult to see pedestrians.Reflective clothing makes such a difference but I suppose it's not cool and trendy enough for some folk.
