Okay so Saturday morning I come out to find a big pile of crap (builders sand etc) completely blocking me into my parking space. As DH & I were getting the train to stay away for the weekend I grumbled loudly & left it. Couldn't immediately see who it belonged to & assumed fly tipping.

Got home Sunday evening, it's still there. Neighbour who parks next to me was out so I was able to move my car & just parked it in the road.

Phoned the council Monday morning to report fly tipping.

Got home Monday night & there's an entire broken fence piled up in my space & the pile still there. There's also a sign up for the person carrying out the work.

I called him & gave him a polite earful (didn't swear or anything). Told him he was blocking me out of my space, I'd reported it as fly tipping, he's inconsiderate etc. He promised me it would be gone today & told me it was the people 3 doors down from me having the work done.

I knock on neighbours door, full of excuses "access is difficult" (it's not) "he didn't have anywhere else to put it" (except their parking space or their front or back gardens) etc etc. I told him that wasn't my problem but if he'd bothered to knock on my door or put a note through my door I wouldn't have been nearly so pissed off. He assured me it would be gone today.

Except it's not is it!!! Fence panels are gone but the pile is still there. Neighbour is out.

Do I text the builder & tell him that as it's not gone & it's been there since Saturday on a public highway I'm calling the council back to pass on his details? Do I go back round to the neighbours when he gets home?

Or do I leave it? Am I just making something out of nothing? I'm not really inconvenienced am I, it just means parking another 6 feet away. But I'm so pissed off!!!

Obligatory diagram enclosed! NDN is twatty neighbour.

Boring update alert. Their car is now back & is parked on the road where mine was previously. They haven't knocked on the door though.

If I walk to pick DS up from school tomorrow then I won't need to use the car until Thursday morning.

I'll call the council in the morning & pass on all his details. That'll be a nice surprise for him.

Thanks for the offer Wish, would love to see the reaction that would get. Grin

Where's Miss Jolly when you need her?

HappyFlappy · 07/03/2017 20:49

We need a Miss Jolly signal 2sheds - a bit like the Bat signal, but maybe projecting an image of crossed hockey sticks on a Harris Tweed background into the sky.

Twopeapods · 07/03/2017 20:57

Ok up to date and following.
Well done OP for using their space.
And for sure report it to the council, although I would tell him that you have done it.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 07/03/2017 20:58

If he does knock on your door and ask you to move your car, please sweetly tell him that he is welcome.to use your space instead.

LoudestRoar · 07/03/2017 21:01

I'd have to go knock on their door! Hope you get it sorted OP

Arthur2shedsJackson · 07/03/2017 21:39

HappyFlappy - you are a soulmate!

Any update OP?

ChasedByBees · 09/03/2017 20:24

Oh I'd like an update too. How did I miss this first time round?

mumthatruns · 09/03/2017 21:12

Supermagicsmile · 09/03/2017 21:16

Any update op?

Stripeyblanket · 09/03/2017 21:25

Can't believe the nerve of them!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 09/03/2017 21:35

Update?

Freyanna · 09/03/2017 22:54

What a cheek your neighbours have! As long as they aren't inconvenienced, everything is rosy. Glad you parked in their space!

kali110 · 10/03/2017 01:15

Absolute cheek of them!Shock
The neighbour is not thick, just selfish Confused

Redglitter · 10/03/2017 01:20

I'm moving house soon. New house is near a school so you can't get near the road at pick up times. My house has a driveway and gate. I'm sure it'll be no time at all before I'm on here with my very own parking thread - complete with diagram.

It's inevitable really isn't it Grin

Any update OP?

MyShinyThing · 10/03/2017 07:15

Sorry I forgot to come back!

A very boring update I'm afraid.

The pile was eventually moved yesterday morning, heard nothing from my neighbours in that time despite knocking on their door a couple of times & being parked in their space.

The council did send someone round & they apparently decided it was private land so they wouldn't clear it anyway.

I had said to DH if it wasn't gone by the weekend I was going to get a shovel & pile it outside their front door.

Sorry it wasn't a bit more exciting, I would have liked my own Miss Jolly Grin

Shiny

Glad you got s sorted but what a shame it didn't escalate into open warfare with penguin bollards and Vick smeared on car door handles; maybe next time Grin

Alas! A Miss Jolly comes along only once in a millennium. We are just so fortunate that she has appeared in ours, and we can appreciate her Wonderousness, even if we never meet her.

peukpokicuzo · 10/03/2017 14:08

If you can spare the money you could organise to have half a ton of rubble (or actual shit) delivered to his front door by way of a thank you.

5OBalesofHay · 10/03/2017 14:13

Definitely use their space till it's gone.
