Okay so Saturday morning I come out to find a big pile of crap (builders sand etc) completely blocking me into my parking space. As DH & I were getting the train to stay away for the weekend I grumbled loudly & left it. Couldn't immediately see who it belonged to & assumed fly tipping.

Got home Sunday evening, it's still there. Neighbour who parks next to me was out so I was able to move my car & just parked it in the road.

Phoned the council Monday morning to report fly tipping.

Got home Monday night & there's an entire broken fence piled up in my space & the pile still there. There's also a sign up for the person carrying out the work.

I called him & gave him a polite earful (didn't swear or anything). Told him he was blocking me out of my space, I'd reported it as fly tipping, he's inconsiderate etc. He promised me it would be gone today & told me it was the people 3 doors down from me having the work done.

I knock on neighbours door, full of excuses "access is difficult" (it's not) "he didn't have anywhere else to put it" (except their parking space or their front or back gardens) etc etc. I told him that wasn't my problem but if he'd bothered to knock on my door or put a note through my door I wouldn't have been nearly so pissed off. He assured me it would be gone today.

Except it's not is it!!! Fence panels are gone but the pile is still there. Neighbour is out.

Do I text the builder & tell him that as it's not gone & it's been there since Saturday on a public highway I'm calling the council back to pass on his details? Do I go back round to the neighbours when he gets home?

Or do I leave it? Am I just making something out of nothing? I'm not really inconvenienced am I, it just means parking another 6 feet away. But I'm so pissed off!!!

Obligatory diagram enclosed! NDN is twatty neighbour.

Another parking one! AIBU?

Saying that there was nowhere else is the part that woild make me see red most! It's as though he couldnt possibly restrict his own access to his drive but why the same principle doesnt apply for you?!

MissMooMoo · 07/03/2017 18:24

Ohhh a parking/neighbour dispute.
I've got a bloody NCT class in 40 minutes, I hope I can catch up when its over!

MyShinyThing · 07/03/2017 18:24

Exactly Newdad! & then said "I suppose he could have put it there" gesturing at the pavement!!! Err no, put it on your own property. I couldn't work out if he was incredibly selfish or incredibly thick!

No place marking to see here, oh no. Move your piles of sand along people, definitely no place marking here.

God, I hope something kicks off, I love a parking thread. Well done on the diagram OP, the colours are lovely Wink

milliemolliemou · 07/03/2017 18:43

OP well done for putting diagram with original post - but what's happened now?

WaitrosePigeon · 07/03/2017 18:46

Love the diagram.

Councils love getting fly tippers!

Blueistheneworange · 07/03/2017 18:53

Is your parking space private land or public highway? It makes a difference re fly tipping -not placemarking in any shape or form-

Blueistheneworange · 07/03/2017 18:54

Bugger- strikeout fail......

HappyFlappy · 07/03/2017 18:57

I'm afraid some of you might have to feed the kids after all

Bollox to that!

RebootYourEngine · 07/03/2017 18:58

Of course there was nowhere else to put it. I mean how rude of you to suggest he puts his pile'o'crap in his own garden Wink

Msqueen33 · 07/03/2017 19:02

God how rude are your ndn? I'd be so embarrassed and yes you should park in their space.

MyShinyThing · 07/03/2017 19:02

No update I'm afraid, there car isn't back so they must still be out.

I know Blue, the woman at the council said that if it's in my space then I would have to clear it as it's private property. Which is outrageous really! I was very careful to say that it was blocking me in & therefore must be on the highway as my car was in my space!

Post an ad on Freecycle and your local Facebook group. "Free sand"

Will be gone in minutes

MyShinyThing · 07/03/2017 19:05

Sorry Old, I very much doubt it will get more exciting tonight though. I'd go & enjoy the quiz if I were you.

I'm doing bed time so won't be back for a little while anyway.

What is it about parking threads? They're my favourite.

alfagirl73 · 07/03/2017 19:31

Love a parking thread! Your diagram is awesome - extra points for "pile 'o' crap"! :-)

Kissesgingers · 07/03/2017 19:36

Yes! Freecycle the "free" sand!

Mouse510 · 07/03/2017 19:38

Excellent diagram.

I think he might be that awful combo of thick and totally thoughtless!

Ollycat · 07/03/2017 19:44

Love the diagram OP- thank you

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 07/03/2017 19:49

I have 3 strapping teens who could move the sand for you onto their drive?

PollyBanana · 07/03/2017 20:10

I wouldn't threaten to free cycle the sand. It might be leftover sand and he won't make any effort to clear it if he thinks you are going to give it away
