I am sick to the back teeth of having to keep on at dp. I gave up a job that meant I could fit round the children on the promise that he would help with covering the holidays. We don't earn a great amount so the plan was we both used our holidays so we didn't have to spend to much on childcare for our 3 children. It was the thing that worried me the most about changing.

Since all the promising and reassuring he hasn't booked a thing and keeps taking random couple of days here and there to go out and enjoy himself. It's driving me by crazy and stressing me out so much. I pay for pretty much everything as it is and I can't afford to cover the holidays if he doesn't help.

Bill him for the childcare costs. . They are his dc also.

So what happens if you say 'I am not booking these dates, you will have to be at home to look after the kids. If you forget to book them, you'll have to call in sick. I will not be bailing you out again'?

Does he realise the financial implications of his selfishness?

Sorry you're having a hard time at the moment. This would bother me too as DH and I have to cover school hols between us.

I'm a bit over-organised though so at the start of each year I plan it all out and TELL DH what dates to book off. He then lets me know if any are a problem and I swap them for alternative dates - until he's booked his share and then anything left over is his to use as he pleases. I then send him a list of dates he's covering holidays so no excuses.

This works well for us as I'm stupidly organised and he's clueless

I don't think so he is the first to moan if I have no cash. The thing is if I don't book it off he will just guilt trip his mum into taking time off work which isn't fair.

I only get 20 days holiday so that barely covers anything. I think I'm worrying as to move to days I took a £2000 paycut but it was for my health more than anything.

I also like to be organised and am considering taking him at gun point to book the time.
