I have done it, it wasn't for me. Far too much faffing around weighing and measuring every single ingredient (including sauces and spices). I don't have kids and I am amazed by and have genuine respect for the parents that manage to do this! Mind you if you aren't fussy like me I think it would be slightly easier as you could just eat anything on the lists whereas I disliked half of it.
There is lots of choice and the meal sizes are big so you don't starve. The exercise is good too - 30mins for HIIT and the weights are good in cycles 2 and 3. The key is to prep your meals; once that is done it is fine.
However cycle 2 is 'pick and mix' i.e. you get your ingredients and put together your own meals. A lot of people struggle here as you know you have to choose a meat, a carb, 2 veg portions, a side, a sauce etc. but if you don't have the imagination it can be tedious. Having said that, the website mydietburble is brilliant for recipe ideas and you just tailor them to your own measurements.
There are pros and cons to the plan so it really depends on what you're after. I personally have no problem doing lots of exercise so I'd rather just eat healthily to lose weight whereas for some people, a structured 3 month plan works really well for them as the workouts are quick. If you stick to it 100% you will get results (I gave up during cycle 3 as it was just before christmas and I just couldn't be arsed anymore).
The benefit of the plan over the books is that you submit a lot of details about yourself and your eating habits and goals beforehand then the plan you get is tailored to you by giving you specific measurements of each ingredient to lose weight. Cycle 1 gives you specific meals to choose, you can't use his book recipes or instagram meals during this cycle.
Good luck with whatever you choose x
