I've read that
Blue tin Nivea is a cheaper version of creme de la mer so I've bought 3 tins!

Please can Anyone recommend anything that is as good as the branded version but cheaper?

Treacle moon bath and shower gels are similar (supposed to be a copy) of philosophy ones.

They're not as nice but £3 for a massive bottle they are nice for the price.

Picture is of the £1 mini one.

Asda's Cherry Juice has (or used to have) more cherries as a percentage of ingredients and is a lot cheaper than Cherry Good.

MaidOfStars · 03/03/2017 11:46

MUA eyeshadow solos are fab, as is the cream blusher.

TobleroneBoo · 03/03/2017 11:48

With Icecream as well, you have to look out for the amount of air included, as it is measured by volume and not weight.

so you may not be getting the best deal by buying cheaper

acquiescence · 03/03/2017 11:52

atenco lol I'm afraid! Not sure if that is quite the sort of thing the OP was asking about!

Freddorika · 03/03/2017 12:01

Lanacane anti chafing gel is the best primer ever and costs about 7 for a tube that lasts ages

Freddorika · 03/03/2017 12:03

I love boots hand wash, the purple one that costs about 80p for a massive bottle

ShowMePotatoSalad · 03/03/2017 12:03

IMO Nivea is nothing like Creme de la Mer. Nivea has a much thicker, cold cream texture, whereas Creme de la Mer is a lighter formulation.

I'd prefer the Nivea to be honest - nothing on this earth can justify the price of Creme de la Mer.

Lidls mayo..fab (& ive tried them all!)

Primark perfumes-think the love one..I get so many comments on how nice I smell! (This is funny when my oh is a bit of a brand snob and has no idea!)

£ shop makeup is really good

Nivea cream, tin and bottle

The shower cream someone's put the pic of on here is lovely and lasts ages

£ shop Nutella, kids can't tell the difference

Aldis washing up liquid imo as good if not better than fairy
Same for their washing liquid then I add scent balls

Can't think of much else but sure there are loads!

Body Shop cheek & lip stain is a good alternative to Benetint/Posietint etc.

ChippyDucks · 03/03/2017 13:32

Can anyone confirm if Sainsburys pet insurance is the same company as Petplan? I'm about to renew mine.

ChortledTheLion · 03/03/2017 13:34

Tesco Perthshire Spring Wayer (still and sparkling) is Hihghland Spring.

missmove38 · 03/03/2017 13:36

Onither one here wondering re the pet insurance?!

rookiemere · 03/03/2017 13:40

Tesco's Salted Caramel Cream liqueur is absolutely lush and costs £8 - tastes way better than Baileys. However the Aldi cream liqueurs were a bit watery.
Aldi Prosecco, Champagne and Cava all good.

Aldi smoked salmon is a bit rubbish though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/03/2017 13:47

If you like nuts, buy them from the cake baking aisle rather than the snacks aisle (or with the fresh fruit in my local tesco?) and they are much cheaper.

Notso · 03/03/2017 14:07

All the things food related are made by the same companies that make the branded stuff.

I don't see how this is true. Having a child with an allergy I do a lot of packet checking and some brands have nut/peanut traces and others don't.

sparechange · 03/03/2017 14:10

From Sainsbury's pet insurance:
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd is an appointed representative of Sainsbury's Bank plc. Sainsbury's Pet Insurance is sold, underwritten and administered by Allianz Insurance plc registered in England no. 84638. Registered office: 57 Ladymead, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1DB

From Pet Plan:

Petplan is a trading name of Pet Plan Limited (Registered in England No. 1282939) and Allianz Insurance plc (Registered in England No. 84638), Registered office: 57 Ladymead, Guildford, Surrey GU1 1DB. Petplan's trading address is: Great West House (GW2), Great West Road, Brentford, Middlesex TW8 9DX.

So some connection but they aren't one and the same and are unlikely to be using the same criteria for claims handling etc

I am another one who won't compromise on free range eggs. It's pennies, I am incredulous when I see what people have in their trolleys but won't pay a tiny bit extra for free range.
I stuck to this when absolutely on my uppers too.

OhHolyJesus · 03/03/2017 14:18

Placemarking

Yokohamajojo · 03/03/2017 14:35

My husband prefers the own branded fruit and fibre cereal than Kellog's and they actually tend to have less sugar as well.

Love Boots cucumber range, I use the wipes and the under eye cream

SistersOfPercy · 03/03/2017 14:39

The W7 In The Buff, In The Nude and Smokin' Palettes are all perfect dupes for the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, they are also as pigmented and last as long.

shovetheholly · 03/03/2017 14:40

Oooh, I know - Aldi granola in the plastic packs is way nicer than Jordans.

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2017 14:46

Neither Aldi nor Lidl washing power could cope with dirty football stuff.

melj1213 · 03/03/2017 16:09

When I went to Uni I was obviously on a much tighter budget than I ever had been before, so a friend of mine gave me a great piece of advice:

When you go to the supermarket, regardless of what brand you'd normally buy, buy the supermarket value range & try it out ... if you don't like it, next time you go buy the "next step up" so value -> own brand-> supermarket luxury (extra special/finest etc) own brand -> cheaper branded ->"luxury" branded

I was really surprised by the quality of some of the value/own brand items that I would have previously never touched because I thought they would be of terrible quality and passed over for a branded alternative without thinking, when actually once I'd tried it, I couldn't see enough difference to justify the extra money I was spending purely for the brand name. So where my shopping used to just be the brands I was brought up with, now my trolley is filled with something from every price range from value up to luxury branded and I have saved so much money by just trading the label.

CoughingForWeeks · 03/03/2017 16:35

Superdrug's Natural High Radiance Balm is great and much cheaper that Clarins Beauty Flash.

I use W7 Banana Dreams loose powder for 'baking' my face; in fact I've just reordered on Amazon for £2.99
