From that link to Trump asking donors for cash, someone reported that the theme for the night had been his big electoral win.
It has been the topic for every speech since the election. It's the topic for his presidency.

saffronwblue · 04/03/2017 20:46

That is such a great summary. Can't believe the latest unhinged rants. Do you think next he will go back to the birther stuff about Obama?

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 20:51

He might attempt to - he's trying to put Obama 'on notice'.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/03/2017 21:00

A very enlightening list Cussing. As the new outrages surface, we start to forget the past ones!

I'm just hoping that this is the 'beginning of the end' as more and more layers are peeled back. But I know that the Dems (or anyone in a position to 'oust' Trump) know that they are going to have to have an absolute water-tight case of criminal or treasonous 'doings' with a trail that leads straight back to Trump. There can't be anyone who will be willing to or in a position to take the fall for him. There can't be any even slightly 'reasonable' explanation. There can't be any 'spin' that can be put on it. It is literally going to have to be 'Trump standing over the dead body with the smoking gun in his hands and his DNA over everything', iyswim. We just aren't there yet and there's no guarantee we ever will be. There are very powerful and 'evil' people who are bound and determined to keep Trump where he is.

Roll on midterms 2018.
Newsom 2020.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 04/03/2017 21:01

It still all smacks of desperate misdirection. He needs to knuckle down and do the job of president.

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 21:04

They may mean Russia but you'll know that my strong view is that they'll nail him on..........personal issues. Wink (Something that the GOP leaders can 'officially' cite as unacceptable.)

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 21:06

I wonder what assurances he gave with regard to his ....... future personal conduct? Wink

The Hill - Report: Trump furious that Sessions recused himself

Washington Post reporter Robert Costa tweeted Saturday morning that President Trump left the White House "in a fury" on Friday, "fuming about [Jeff] Sessions's recusal and telling aides that Sessions shouldn't have recused himself," also calling the reports of his meeting "bull."

amispartacus · 04/03/2017 21:30

That's one hell of a list. And yes, becoming normalised.....

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 21:34

Trump is a different sort of person from his 'people' - or most of them, anyway. They don't have his .............interesting mindset so they feel shame, embarrassment, humiliation etc etc. They can't rationalise it to themselves in the way that he can.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/03/2017 21:37

cozie I get your drift. And you may very well be right. Bill C was nearly impeached for lying to Congress in the Lewinsky affair. It may very well be something similar that does for Trump. It's probably why he's so desperate to keep his tax returns private. I'm sure there are a lot of little entries on them that could lead to big trouble!

AcrossthePond55 · 04/03/2017 21:41

Oh, as far as 'personal' meaning sex-capades, I don't think that would get him impeached. After the Lewinsky scandal it was pretty much 'decided' that a president's (ahem) personal peccadillos weren't an impeachable offense, but lying about them was. So, proven sexual harassment or assault=impeachment. A little nookie on the side='boys will be boys'.

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 21:52

Remember - it's not about what people really deep-down believe, it's rather about what they can choose to cite as a belief. Impeachment is about pretty well whatever Congress decides is impeachable behaviour if I recall? Wink

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 21:55

Always think to yourself - how would that play, even if only officially, with the good ol' boys? Motherhood and apple pie will get you there every time I reckon. Grin

Just remember - Al Capone was brought down for tax evasion...

Natsku · 04/03/2017 22:20

The American forum where I futilely try and argue against Trump has someone saying there hasn't been any nicknames against Trump yet - I mentioned a few like The Orange One and Twitler and of course SCROTUS but are there any more?

cozietoesie · 04/03/2017 22:25

'45' apparently has a quite ........naughty meaning in South Africa.

I, of course, only use it to refer to the 45th president. Halo
