Good summary of Trump's speech the other night from The Daily Show (and yes I have a crush on Trevor Noah!):

nicenewdusters · 03/03/2017 09:37

Just place marking, although I never spoke to any of you during the campaign. Oh, except about naice ham and moon cups, so that doesn't count.

peaceout · 03/03/2017 10:08

(When I say "good", I kind of mean "funny". And "unbelievable". I don't mean this is a good thing as such.)

CussingQuim · 03/03/2017 10:16

Ohhhhh got it

CussingQuim · 03/03/2017 10:17

Go home Cussing, you're drunk Gin

peaceout · 03/03/2017 10:33

I do so hope his phone has been hacked😂🙌

BiglyBadgers · 03/03/2017 10:36

Seattle Tribune - BREAKING: Trump’s Android Device Believed To Be Source Of Recent White House Leaks

I am no expert on device security, but there is a reason they are not supposed to use personal devices and have special super secure ones given to them. It is really not that hard to hack into someone's device and as it is well known that he uses an unsecured personal phone I imagine every hacker on the planet is busy giving it a go right now. It certainly seems feasible that the phone could be the source of some leaks.

peaceout · 03/03/2017 10:37

He hasn't managed to internalise the rules of grammar, appears not to be able to think logically so there's no way he could understand how hacking and cyber security work😂

CussingQuim · 03/03/2017 10:38

(Oh shit a message didn't post, it's a fake source. I'm an idiot. Have reported to MN to ask them to add a note Smile)

CussingQuim · 03/03/2017 10:56

In more reliable sources.

An interesting read from The Economistt* - Why the French presidential election will have consequences far beyond its borders.

The Hill - Barbara Pierce Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, headlined a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Texas this week ... "George W. Bush pushed for anti-abortion policies during his time in the White House, but his wife Laura Bush has supported legal abortion in the past."

Reuters - Exclusive: Trump aides' bid to plug leaks fuels government paranoia "Current and former officials said that in a departure from past practice, access to a classified computer system at the White House has been tightened by political appointees to prevent professional staffers from seeing memos being prepared for the new president."

... "At the State Department, the fear of getting caught in a leak investigation or running afoul of White House positions is so acute that some officials will discuss issues only face-to-face rather than use phones, email, texts or other messaging applications, two State Department officials said.

"There is a climate of intimidation, not just about talking to reporters, but also about communicating with colleagues," said one official, speaking on condition of anonymity."

CussingQuim · 03/03/2017 11:08

Well, this is terrifying.

Politico - How Anti-Democratic Propaganda Is Taking Over the World

"Autocrats from Beijing to Moscow are spreading their toxic ideology in more parts of the globe than ever before. And they're much more sophisticated than you think."

TheClaws · 03/03/2017 11:11

An article from the NY Times today about the climate change issue. A quote: "Stephen K. Bannon is pushing for the United States to exit the 2015 deal, but Rex Tillerson and Ivanka Trump see a grave downside in pulling the rug out from under allies."

Why is Ivanka Trump involved?

Dumdedumdedum · 03/03/2017 11:13

Mr Rather sums it up, nicely, again.
"We are well past the time for any political niceties or benefits of the doubt. We need an independent and thorough investigation of Russia's meddling in our democracy and its ties to the President and his allies. We don't know what we don't know. Perhaps there are perfectly innocuous reasons for why Mr Trump won't release his tax returns, why he has continued to speak admirably about President Putin and why his aides and advisors seem to be so close to Russia. That's why we need an investigation. If the air is to be cleared, it needs to be cleared. And if there is deep rot, it needs to be exposed. And quickly."

From Dan Rather's Facebook page.

Sorry if this has been posted and discussed here already but:

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.standard.co.uk/news/world/donald-trump-axes-barack-obama-rule-stopping-mentally-ill-people-buying-guns-a3480596.html%3Famp

This has worried me immensely. So mentally ill people are now allowed to buy guns again. Words fail me.

There's no shortage of European politicians wanting to ride on Trump's coat-tails.
I am quite worried about the Dutch elections - I know that the French elections are getting a lot of attention, but the threat from Wilders is pretty serious too. He is another anti EU populist, but his main platform is open Islamophobia, and he goes way beyond dog whistles...

His number one election promise is to "de-Islamisize" the Netherlands, including banning all Asylum seekers and closing the borders to any immigrants from Muslim countries (like Trump!), closing all Mosques and Islamic schools, and banning the Koran.
Even if he wins the vote, he may not end up in government due to the way their system works, but in my eyes it would be another very disturbing indication that large numbers of people are willing to vote for an openly racist leader. I don't think a victory for Wilders could be excused as voters "just wanting change" or "wanting lower tax".

Trump tweet - "Nick Adams new book, Green Card Warrior, is a must read. The merit-based system is the way to go. Canada, Australia! @foxandfriends"

.... anyone read this?

GingerIvy · 03/03/2017 12:10

Cussing He's clearly seen a review on the book, as he damn sure hasn't read it!

New Trump tweet, in an odd "Yes It's Trump Writing These" tone...

"It is so pathetic that the Dems have still not approved my full Cabinet."

GingerIvy · 03/03/2017 12:24

Perhaps if he spent less time on twitter and more time looking for QUALIFIED people to fill his cabinet, it'd be done by now.

Then again, it must be hard to find someone that is both qualified and willing to either join or look the other way at his antics and Russia issues.
