Disneyland Paris Restaurant

Posting here for traffic as trip is very soon. We have a choice to eat at Plaza Gardens or Le Grange at Billy Bob's. Any one been to either? Billy Bob's looks like it could be more fun but the Plaza Gardens restaurant looks beautiful!

Have been to DLP 5 times in the past 3 years but have actually never eaten at either, sorry.

However, from what I hear, Plaza Gardens has a really lovely selection of food but can get very busy. So, if you opt for here, you may be best booking it for a time when most other guests will still be in the parks (e.g. just before/during parade). I also think that characters will be coming to Plaza Gardens in a few months moving from Cafe Mickey (Not sure if Cafe Mickey in the Village will survive without the characters, but that's another issue - the food there is rank).

Another buffet 'standard' dining place I found surprisingly nice was Restaurant des Stars in the Studios. Again, a lovely selection and it was very spacious whereas the tables can be quite cramped in other places. We had our reservation there for 12pm and were the first to arrive so had pretty much free reign over the buffet for a short while. By the time we left at around 1.15pm, it was very busy indeed though.

Wow you have been a lot, I am jealous! We have booked the plaza gardens but I am thinking of changing it, I have heard it can be really packed, we have it at dinner time though. I might just wait until I am there, might not be able to get a table for billy bob's now anyway! Seeing as you have been a lot, have you ever been on Panoramagique, that hot air balloon thing in the Village?

Plaza gardens is lovely! There was queuing whem we went and it was busy, BUT the food was great, lovely selection, and we didn't feel rushed at all. I would recommend it. Never saw Billy Bobs so can't comment on that one.

Actually, I think we even went for seconds. The queue moved at a decent speed. I'm qute jealous you're going, we loved it there so much but went in middle of feb and it was absolutely freezing.

Oh thanks for that, maybe I will just leave it as plaza gardens and can do billy bob's another time, if we ever get to go again! I am very excited, just hope it doesn't rain every day!

I found Plaza Gardens a bit stressful, although admittedly this might be because our booking was straight after the parade! Our favourite by far was Bistrot Chez Remy - beautiful food and fantastic service. We had good food at Cafe Mickey and daughter loved all the characters, although we had to queue for an age (despite reservations).

Ahhh the parades! We only watched 2, and made the most of the crowds being at them to go and do other things while maybe a little less crowded.

OP make sure you have activities for any dc -outside queuing for things isn't too bad as there's usually something fun to look at, but inside queuing is awful. We queued for 2hrs to "meet a princess" who was absolutely lovely (and spent about 5mins with her) but there was nothing to do in the line so dd was so bored she almost wanted to leave halfway through.

I know it will be busy but I am hoping not that busy there will 2 hour queues? Going midweek next week? What do you think?

Honestly 2 hrs to meet a princess in the castle was the absolute longest we waited for anything, and it was half term at the time. Mostly we found the queues pretty decent tbf and didn't really mind them (the outside ones) as you could see what was going on, like at chesington or something but more interesting. The Autopia ride was maybe 40 mins wait tops but most were quite short between 10 and 25mins...some even less. You'll have a fab time.

That's great, reassured me, thanks! I will think about taking a couple of bits in case of bad queues though, better to be prepared.

yes, we've done the hot air balloon a few times. We really enjoyed it but it's very much weather dependent, so not always running. You just buy your tickets from the little kiosk right by the entrance. It's tethered, so only goes up and down. I think it goes up and stays there for about 5 minutes, so you get plenty of time to look around and wander to see different angles etc. It overlooks Lake Disney so you get a nice view of the hotels and village.

I'm sure i've heard somewhere that the DLP McDonalds sometimes gives you a voucher for a free kids place on the hot air ballonn with specific meals. We've never eaten here either when visiting DLP so i'm not 100% sure about this.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have. Our most recent trip was just before Christmas there.

Brilliant thanks Anot, I don't know anyone that has ever done that but going to give it a go. We already have all our meals booked so wont be going MCds but I am going to ask at the hotel if there are any offers, BOGOF or something, you never know. Must have been amazing at Christmas!

I found all the food at Disneyland Paris pretty poor (except that in the main hotel). Have low expectations and all will be well Grin

I have done Billy Bob's (Disney Village) and Restaurant Des Stars(Walt Disney Studios) twice now, sadly have not done Plaza Gardens (just Off Main Street)
All 3 are in different locations, so if you are not fussed too much, think about where you will be when you go to eat.

Billy Bobs is all tex mex style food, (with the most amazing cornbread)
Res Des Stars is a mix, but the desserts were amazing.

If I could chose only one, I think I would pick Billy's though.
Do you have a meal plan (pre-paid) at all?

Also, there is a decent facebook group that help with all this as well a great community on Trip advisor, You can Pm for the links if you need to.

Love Plaza Gardens. One of our favourites. Once you get in its fine and with a reservation you usually get in fairly quick.

Oh, and go to the French language Star Wars show- it's an English language file so there's one sentence in French, much less busy than the English showing which was later (they may have changed it round though) have a wonderful time!

Plaza gardens has the longest wait by far. It's nice, hence the mass of people trying to get in, but the experience can be stressful

Yes we have the premium meal plan and have already booked plaza gardens but I thought billy bobs looked more fun so was going to swap but think I am going to stick with plaza gardens seeing as most of you loved it. I don't have high expectations of the food! Although I am looking forward to 'Elvis the King' banana split at Annette's Diner, it looks amazing!!

Regarding the Eurostar, I have anxiety on trains, does the tunnel portion go quickly, are there lights in the tunnel and how long after leaving Ashford does it go into the tunnel? I know these may sound funny! x

If you have premium, have you considered Inventions? the food is okay, but the characters are fabby :) all of the three buffets mentioned are standard, so you wont get any money back for them, but they are still very nice.

As for the tunnel, I bloody hate them (eyes closed and praying) But I didn't take much notice, it was light on the train and airy, so I didn't see. It seemed to go quickly, either that or it was the magic and excitement of going to Disney :P

The train stays light with lights in so going through tunnel is like travelling by train at night... iyswim?

We don't have the premium meal plan, we have the plus one, I haven't heard of inventions though? maybe I didn't see it as I filtered it for the plus meal plan. Thanks for reassurance about the tunnel! Do you know how soon after leaving Ashford it goes into the tunnel? Presuming not long!

No not long although the train doesn't fly through Kent as quickly as it does through northern France.
I am guessing at 20 mins but I'm not really sure. You will be getting yourselves settled and perhaps sharing out some sausage baps and coffees/ juice( that's us!!) still and it really is quite seamless
