HELP!!!! I have Vaseline in my hair and a job interview in 3 hours

My lovely well meaning friend gave me a scalp conditioner she uses to help with an itchy scalp.

I put some in last night and went to rinse it out but the water just ran off it. Checked the ingredients and it's petroleum jelly (Vaseline)!!!

This is completely repellent of water.

I've tried an entire box of cornstarch!

Rubbing olive oil in to dissolve

Egg white

Five washes of fairy liquid

Five washes of bar soap.

NOTHING is making any difference.

My hair is one greasy mess. Not the type that would go unnoticed. It looks like I have poured a vat of vegetable oil all over my hair.

I'm sat here is an absolute state. I have no idea what to do. I have short hair so no disguising.

Is there ANYTHING I can do?

This is my dream job. I don't want to cancel the job interview. Will I have to?

Wtf is in coke and head & shoulders, swarfega????

Astro55 · 02/03/2017 23:05

Coke is looking I'm eating juice and cinnamon - and a bit of fizz - cleans oil off the drive way and filthy loos !

Why didn't I think of that!

Let us know how you got on - good luck

Shampoo your hair and stop being such a drama queen.

HTH.

And you've learned rule number 1 in the interview process; Don't sleep with a pot of vaseline in your hair the night before

Too late for the OP and I'm glad Coca-Cola solved your problem! Best of luck with the job!

But following on from post above:

The first rule of the interview process (or any event of any kind that matters to you) is NEVER do/use/wear anything new immediately prior to or during. Never.

So that means - don't wear shoes or an outfit you haven't worn before - even if that means testing it at home privately (wedding shoes/dress for example). If it's an interview or hot date or a presentation, you feel much better in clothes that you feel safe and comfortable in. Skirts you know don't ride up, shoes that won't catch in the grate, blouses you aren't tugging at because they show your cleavage.

Don't try out new moisturiser, skin products, make up that you haven't tested before. Allergic reactions, red puffy eyes happens all the time.

And... don't accept "scalp conditioner" from well meaning friends. Grin

My lecturer taught us this and I've never forgotten: If you have a greasy pot never wet it first. Scrub it with the fairy liquid in round motions. Once you've rubbed the liquid into all the grease then rinse it and it will come off clean straight away.
It's something to do with water and fat particles repelling.

The same could apply to greasy hair. Either scrub it dry with soap/shampoo and then rinse at the end.

Did you get the job?

cassie204 · 04/03/2017 18:45

I have long hair tied up all the time - I would love a short style hair cut but am useless at blow drying, any suggestions on a cut that would be easy for a person like me who goes out early in the morning with her dog?

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/03/2017 10:11

I've done this with baby oil. Sarfega is the only thing that will work. Washing up liquid isn't strong enough.
