And it makes me want to punch his face in the TV. Who says that? Who? By the way he was referring to blending. "Gonna stick all that in the blender and give it a quick wazzy woo woo!" Shock

With regards to his recipes anything I've trued of his seems too involved too much liquid. Enough I make me not interested in trying if one of his recipes turns up on a Google search I do.

drigon · 26/02/2017 18:10

Yeah, he can be annoying, but his recipes work well and are practical. Also, I like his enthusiasm generally regarding good food.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 26/02/2017 18:12

Well his parents ran a naive pub and he went to a bog standard school. Not particularly priviliged.

And I think he has apologised for the big tv comments after being educated about poverty.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 18:13

Whats a naive pub?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 26/02/2017 18:13

Naice pub

bummymummy77 · 26/02/2017 18:28

A hate naive pubs.

bummymummy77 · 26/02/2017 18:28

I hate. Fuck's sake.

ClopySow · 26/02/2017 19:33

He's the Chris Martin of the tv chef world. Condescending twats 'em both.

formerbabe · 26/02/2017 19:49

I don't want to like him but I do and think his TV shows are great!

ThymeLord · 26/02/2017 19:53

Surely nobody could be naive enough to believe that JO gives a shit about what's on your kids dinner plate?! He'd dropped off most people's radar and spotted a way to get his face back in the news, that's all.

MoonriseKingdom · 26/02/2017 20:04

I like JO. There's plenty of TV chefs I don't go out of my way to watch but none of them seem to get people so worked up in dislike as JO.

I think his recipes are good. I have 2 of his books but he has also put a huge number of recipes on line. I'm happy he is trying to do good things (ie Improve school dinners). It needs someone who would get tabloid attention to champion these things to make government take notice. Even if his motivation is partly self serving does it matter if he achieves positive aims. Should rich and successful people not try to use their fame for good?

DameSquashalot · 26/02/2017 23:04

Hi silly phrases really annoy me, but his recipes are simple and work well. Also fussy DD loves him and I like anything that gets her interested in food.

He tries too hard to be cool.

Shockers · 26/02/2017 23:20

I'm naive enough!

Calling anyone whose family is affected by Type 1 Diabetes - Jamie Oliver has been campaigning in the US for children to drink water instead of sugary drinks, which was all fine, until he made the major schoolboy error of associating sugary drinks with Type 1 Diabetes, with an offensive picture which is getting tens of thousands of ill-informed "likes" on FB. I've written an Open Letter to him on my blog asking him to set the record straight and am doing all I can to spread the word. My husband and daughter both have Type 1 diabetes, btw. Your input, thoughts, and any support you can offer would be much appreciated.

If you're going to promote yourself as an expert on absolutely flipping everything at least make sure you get the basics correct.... Hmm

The problem is that the public in a lot of cases will take his word as gospel, and the good awareness raising work that is done (in this case about Type 1 diabetes) is immediately undone.

WattdeEll · 27/02/2017 00:45

I once had to do a marketing evaluation survey which asked people to describe Jamie Oliver in three words. Remembering him using the phrase, I wrote: wazzy woo woo Grin

Obviouspretzel · 27/02/2017 07:27

He may or may not care about what children or poor people eat (although he genuinely seems to on his programs) but I don't know why so many people on here are so insistent that he doesn't. Why is that? Just because he is successful and rich ? Or because he is a bit of a wally who uses silly words?

TizzyDongue · 27/02/2017 09:08

I think its because he makes money off it Obviouspretzel.

"Mummy we've run out of toilet paper, and now I've got a wazzy woo woo"
