And it makes me want to punch his face in the TV. Who says that? Who? By the way he was referring to blending. "Gonna stick all that in the blender and give it a quick wazzy woo woo!" Shock

OP posts:
Shockers · 26/02/2017 17:12

I took that as meaning he had a bit of a motormouth. If that's not what the poster meant, it is indeed horrible!

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 17:15

It's good that he's easily avoidable.

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 26/02/2017 17:18

He is really nice and funny in real life, and he has a filthy mouth!

Maybe wazzy woo is his way of stopping himself saying something ruder?
I like a lot of his recipes too.

I like him - nobody else seems to give a shit about the utter tripe on our kids' plates at lunchtime....given the uproar on here if someone suggests giving their kid a Fruit Shoot or something else mumsnet-illegal, I'd have thought people would not be talking about phrases the bloke uses and how they make them feel Confused

Please would someone tell me what show is on today?

BastardBloodAndSand · 26/02/2017 17:23

No real interest in Jamie Oliver.......he's rather annoying I s'pose........the fat tongue comments are vile tho, there isn't a great deal he can do about that. One.can only wonder if people who.have down syndrome and.other.conditions that cause them to have an oversized tongue are considered fair game.too ??

octopusrus · 26/02/2017 17:23

ShoutouttomyEx cross post there.

Yes I agree with you - can you actually imagine what people would be saying if the post had said

"my DS said he hated a kid in his class because of the way he speaks, it makes him feel sick and ache, is he being cruel or funny?"

Honestly the hipocrisy on here is unbeliveable.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 26/02/2017 17:24

He does my absolute nut in.

SoulAccount · 26/02/2017 17:30

But 'wazz' means 'piss', as in 'having a wazz'.
It makes no sense.

Delia would never say such a thing.

Though Nigella is capable of making anything to do with a stick blender sound like fellatio.

blue25 · 26/02/2017 17:31

I had the misfortune of meeting & spending some time with him. He is a complete twat and talks about himself constantly.

Shockers · 26/02/2017 17:32
Grin
Shockers · 26/02/2017 17:32

Sorry, that was for Nigella and her stick blender.

ArseHasFallenApart · 26/02/2017 17:33

I call the tumble dryer the Chumba Wumba. Please don't tell me I'm on a par with JO people?

Applebite · 26/02/2017 17:36

I deleted someone on fb that I thought was a friend for describing him as that "fat tongued window licker with his shameless Sainsbury's bumming" Shock

He really seems to inspire some hatred, god knows why. Maybe jealousy and the great British public not really liking anyone too successful?!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 26/02/2017 17:38

I find Delia's style extremely repressed and constricting. Delia would be saying "You need to blend this fir 13.5 seconds".

Nigella would be gurning faux orgasmically and licking her fingers suggestively.

I prefer a bit of Jamie to be honest.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 17:53

Every time you say you don't especially like a sleb on MN you get accused of jealousy. V weird.

I am struggling to think of a TV chef I don't mind too much. Rusty Lee maybe-at least she was fun.

TizzyDongue · 26/02/2017 17:55

What in the name of all things sane was that lamb curry drumming?

I think he's disliked by many due to his patronising and clueless manner. After he moved on from school dinners (where he had a point) he just seems to have lost the run of himself.

As for people not liking him because he's not posh? I'm pretty sure he is, he had quite the privelaged upbringing (which I think he tried to playdown/ingore at the start) that gave him an advantage in his way up. He might not be posh in accent or school but he most certainly has no clue as to what life budgeting involves both nor the psychological effect of constant living hand to mouth.

This deep dislike he invokes does lead to people making comments about his looks, voice, learning disability; which is not nice and are nasty.

He's still a dicky doo doo though.

RightOnTheEdge · 26/02/2017 18:00

I was just thinking that I don't really mind his daft phrases but this....

*Imagine his pillow talk.

"Just gonna give it an old bish bosh, yeah?"*

has just put me right off 😱

Applebite · 26/02/2017 18:02

Hahaha rightontheedge - although clearly it hasn't put jules off!!

TizzyDongue · 26/02/2017 18:02

Has he ever had to cook on an actual proper budget, not the pretendy one?

I recall seeing a programme where chefs actually went shopping with people, using these people's actual food budget, the ideas was the chefs would show each person how to cook well using the shops these people could access and anything in the cupboards. If i recollect none of them could. I seem to remember James Martin was one of the chefs, he was quite shocked by how difficult life was and difficult eating well was. He was with an older single man living in a flat and ended up leaving a box of food behind. Can't recall the other chefs though.

ScarletForYa · 26/02/2017 18:05

I don't believe for a minute he cares about children eating cheap crap or whatever he bangs on about.

I think, as he approached middle age, he just looked at his career, realised he was irrelevant. He was no longer young and goofy, riding a moped, cooking in a loft with a bunch of twenty year olds from a Benetton ad, listening to Ocean Color scene.

He decided to grasp a 'cause'. Healthy food for kids fitted the bill and bish, bash, bosh, he's the Bono of cooking.

mycatwantstokillme1 · 26/02/2017 18:05

I didnt have anything against JO util he made his comment about working class parents with big widescrèen tv's. And then i thought he was an arse with no empathy! Dont think the comments about his tongue are on, though.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 18:08

What's happening with his breastfeeding campaign? the one where he said

“It's easy, it's more convenient, it's more nutritious, it's better, it's free,” said the 40-year-old father of four.

Yy JO it's a walk in the park. Hmm
