To have never bought my son an easter egg?

DS is 4 and although Grandparents on both sides buy him a small egg each year, we have never bought him one.
Apparently I am tight!
We will probably get him one this year - a small one. But AIBU not to have bought one in previous years?

I never got any as a child as my Mam would say they were a waste of money- so she would always buy a bigger bar as the grams of chocolate to £ was better (my Mam was tight but also we were quite poor!)
I'm now 33 with two kids and as a result of missing out I buy them loads of eggs!
I don't feel deprived though so I wouldn't feel bad. Especially as he's only 4

I have 5 dc, the eldest is 14, and I have never bought any of them an easter egg, they get plenty from other people. Tend to buy them a dvd to share instead.

No of course not, he's had eggs from grandparents why would he need an egg from you too? Especially at such a young age I wouldn't want my DS eating that much chocolate.

Buy one after Easter, they usually go for half price.

But Easter eggs aren't expensive. £1 will get you a nice Cadburys Buttons Easter Egg.

We've never bought DS one, as PP have said he gets enough from other people and I'm not buying him chocolate for the sake of it at three years old.

If you were saying you were not letting him have one to the point where you don't let others gift them to him then that wbu but you're not. He gets 2 eggs and is 4. That's a fair amount of chocolate so I'd say and extra one is up to you.

Yanbu. I've never bought any of my children easter eggs.
Firstly because I'm not Christian (we don't do Christmas either) and secondly the year my eldest was born at just 3 weeks old he got more than a dozen easter eggs from extended family
This still continues to this day. I made chocolate chip cookies with left over easter eggs last November. Its utterly ridiculous the amount of eggs we get.

I've never bought one for DD either and she's 4 next month (or DS, just turned 2)... And we have no rellies near by to give them either so she has in fact literally Never had an Easter egg. I actually don't understand the reasoning behind it at all?? Not a fan of weird fantasy bs benefactors like the Easter bunny and father Christmas anyway but we did do the old FC as we dressed it up in an exercise in kindness, generosity, and goodwill to all (especially children, in his case!), but genuinely can't see how the Easter bunny is a thing?!

Asked DD of she knew what Easter was the other day as the shops are starting to get full of it and she had no idea, so I said it was a celebration of the Coming of Spring (we're not at all religious) and new life - which she seemed accepting of - but I really can't put chocolate into the frame?!

I feel I missed some info here.

The chocolate eggs I think of when talking of easter eggs are tiny. Just a mouthful each. They look pretty because they are wrapped in shiny aluminium, but I think a 4 year old can survive without.

Just give him a boiled egg with a nice picture on it? That's the original easter egg, anyway. And doesn't have the sugar content problem.

A couple of friends and my dad Ragwort. It has never been about money just about the fact that 2 eggs was more than enough for a one/two/three year old that cannot reason with the fact that they have already had some and cannot have more just because it is sat there. Until he turned three we used to eat them on his behalf anyway!

I have never bought my DS an Easter egg either, and he's 18!

The reason is that he gets eggs from grandparents, but he doesn't really have a sweet tooth and never ate them all.

I always get him something else, a book or t shirt or something.

I've never got DS an egg either, he gets plenty from family and doesn't need more from us, he was still eating Easter chocolate in September last year! I never had one from my parents either for the same reason and it never annoyed me, they do buy them for DH and BIL for some reason though!

Why did you eat his chocolate on his behalf? A bit of chocolate isn't going to kill a 2 year old. It's not Agent Orange. Why are so many parents ridiculously over the top about sweet things?

It doesn't have to be about eating the chocolate though; It's nice to get a shiny new treat when you're 4 "just because" in fact it's nice at my age too!

My nieces/nephews receive a large amount of eggs each but very few get eaten and that's alright, they just like getting them and we as adults like seeing their eyes light up with excitement.

When I was little my mum every year made all the girls Easter baskets with big bows filled with lots of varying size eggs and the boys got Easter trucks filled with the same; I don't remember Easter as a child for the chocolate, instead I have fond memories because of the effort my mum made for us.

I don't think there's a reason to suck the joy out of things (And some parents on here seem to do that often), a brightly coloured foil egg or a novelty chocolate bunny isn't going to ruin anyone's childhood!

We have never bought one for DS. He has two sets of grandparents and three child free aunties who spoil him rotten so he doesn't need any more from us.
