Is it irresponsible to take a child out to public places that has chicken pox, yet to scab over?

For example, going out for something to eat? Shopping?

I've since contacted my HV, regarding another issue, but raised this one for some further guidance.

HV stated the following: avoid baby groups and other environments where your baby will be in face-to-face contact with another person. Steer clear of those you know are pregnant, in poor health etc., but otherwise, do as you would normally do.
