Desperate- which pads won't cause a fanjo fire?

Pitchforktotheface · 25/02/2017 21:35

After 14months of breastfeeding my periods have returned. Pre baby I used a moon cup or tampons, but post baby my vagina is a no go zone.

I picked up some always ultra but they smell like zoflora and my fany feels like its on fire (I get thrush really easily).

So what pads can I use, and buy tomorrow?

I don't want reuseables.

And why the fuck are they perfumed? Who wants their fanjo smelling of an old peoples home?

Coming back to confirm that the always incontinence pads are a disaster. I'm on my way to boots for a different product, as these have made me feel as though I'm sat in a bar of peppermint smeared ants. Fucking arseholes.

rumblingDMexploitingbstds · 26/02/2017 14:44

Abandoned Always after years of use because the smell is revolting, and yy to getting amplified and made more revolting when in use. They also gave me constant inflammation. Now I use Tescos own cheapest/basic ones which are stench and irritation free.

So sorry you're uncomfortable but what a lovely turn of phrase!

youarenotkiddingme · 26/02/2017 15:02

Ok so reading this thread bodyform seems the way to go. So where can you buy them?

QueenOfTheCatBastards · 26/02/2017 16:04

I can confirm that tena smell less and I'm no longer tempted to grate all the skin of my undercarriage off.

This chest infection can get to hell, and my sincere sympathies to anybody who has to use these things on a regular basis!

I get Natracare as part of my Able & Cole delivery which saves me having to track them down in the shops.

Purplefrogshoes · 26/02/2017 16:43

Bodyform or sensitive always (pink pkt)

SoupDragon · 26/02/2017 19:10

B0ots and s4insburys both sell Bodyform.

Boots own brand!

scrabble1 · 26/02/2017 21:38

Bodyform or Superdrug's own brand

fairweathercyclist · 27/02/2017 13:55

I use Bodyform for my lighter days but am a bit stuck for the heavier days as Always seem to be the only provider who do the secure night size which is really huge (and I need that size for about 48 hours). Has anyone got a suggestion for an alternative for heavy days/nights?

SoupDragon · 27/02/2017 14:39

Bodyform do a night version. It's more generously sized than the ordinary ones - longer, definitely. Not sure how it compares to Always as I can't remember how big they are. They must be similar I think as I don't recall thinking Bodyform were small.

SoupDragon · 27/02/2017 14:44

The Bodyform goodnight towels are 320mm long, according to the website.

fairweathercyclist · 28/02/2017 08:52

The Bodyform goodnight are fine for my medium days but they are no good for my heaviest days. I don't use tampons unless I am swimming.

CycleHire · 28/02/2017 22:02

Lil let do Night towels which I think are a good alternative to Always. I haven't used Bodyform to compare though.

Thingywhatsit · 28/02/2017 22:12

I use lillets - post baby no 2 I find tampons uncomfy. lillets aren't as common in shops, but boots do them. They do a long version (pink pack) that I use most of the time and I find them really comfy, no fanjo fire, no leaks, no horrid smell. They also cope with flooding pretty well too

littleshirleybeans · 28/02/2017 22:23

I like the scented ones!!!! But I do get very hot and bothered sweaty very easily and these help me feel fresh!
Seriously.

Howaboutthisone · 28/02/2017 22:35

Body form definitely! I used always for year before the kids and then also tried always infinity. Ended up having issues with them and not getting on with them at all. Now use body form nighttime (blue pack) for my stupid heavy days and then normal (dark pink) for very beginning and end.

QueenOfTheCatBastards · 01/03/2017 05:48

The lil let night towel that used to be in a grey packet is amazing.

fairweathercyclist · 01/03/2017 07:56

Will try Lil let then, thank you! The Always ones don't irritate my skin, but I'm not keen on the idea of everyone (or at least those with more sensitive noses than mine) being able to smell them from miles away :)

Seconding the warning about Cezarette. Had the worst periods of my life on the three months I was on it. Period pain that had me curled up in tears and bleeding through pads.

I find Kotex to be the best. Especially their night time pads. They are hard to find, luckily our corner shop has them.
