Desperate- which pads won't cause a fanjo fire?

Pitchforktotheface · 25/02/2017 21:35

After 14months of breastfeeding my periods have returned. Pre baby I used a moon cup or tampons, but post baby my vagina is a no go zone.

I picked up some always ultra but they smell like zoflora and my fany feels like its on fire (I get thrush really easily).

So what pads can I use, and buy tomorrow?

I don't want reuseables.

And why the fuck are they perfumed? Who wants their fanjo smelling of an old peoples home?

Superdrug own-brand

terrylene · 25/02/2017 22:08

Always have brought out a sensitive one which is £1 at the moment for 16

Highmaintenancefemalestuff · 25/02/2017 22:08

I've always had problems with always. Apparently a Lot of people are allergic, or so I've heard. Body form are the way to go, never had any problems since I changed to these.

Auldspinster · 25/02/2017 22:09

Supermarket own brands seem to be mercifully unscented.

Akire · 25/02/2017 22:11

Always infinity are fab can't feel the pad if anything it's like wearing pant liner not a pad none that plastic can't breathe feeling. They also have lots holes In foam so feels airer and not sweaty.

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/02/2017 22:12

Bodyform are what I used to use.

Gabilan · 25/02/2017 22:14

I'd really rather just smell of period than spend my time wondering where the little Christmas tree air freshener is and realise I smell as if it's up my chuff.

Why did Always do it? I'd been loyal to their product for 20 years and I lack any brand loyalty to anything.

OpenMindedSceptic · 25/02/2017 22:15

Always Infinity. I read about them on mumsnet. Non perfumed, thin, no leaks. I really rate them.

edwinbear · 25/02/2017 22:20

Another vote for Always Infinity. Bit more expensive but well worth it.

NotACompleterFinis · 25/02/2017 22:23

Natracare from Waitrose (think you can get them from amazon too). No scent, cotton based, breathable - not plasticy like some others.

QueenOfTheCatBastards · 25/02/2017 22:25

Lilets or kotex if I need towels. Both seem so to have minimal plastic over layer.

Can't handle always any more.

Cornettoninja · 25/02/2017 22:26

I'm going to brave my mooncup again soon (dd's 14 months) but I've been road testing supermarket own brands. Tesco seems ok and you can get Kotex from Poundland.

I refuse to spend ££££'s on unscented ones just to not smell like a rat has died up my drainpipe.

I've retained a bit of pregnancy supersmell and honestly the stink off an always pad made me heave. It does notsmell like that with unscented ones.

Shame really, always were my trusty go to for years, the shape seemed to suit me really well. But balls to them if they insist on using whatever god awful shit it is they've put in them. I cannot believe anyone thinks they smell 'fresh' with one of those things on.

Frouby · 25/02/2017 22:27

I use the infinity ones too.

They don't move around, you don't get a sweaty chuff and they aren't scented.

The sticky bit is very keen though so make sure you press the wings right down or you sit down then stand up with it stuck to the inside of your leg and end up doing a DIY patchy wax.

Pitchforktotheface · 25/02/2017 22:30

anotheremma I'm going on cerazette, which I don't bleed on so I don't want to invest in reusables. We use reusable nappies so I'm not against the principal.

I'll buy some bodyform tomorrow.

Body form or Boots or super drug own are non scented. Actually I rate the Boots ones.

SuperFlyHigh · 25/02/2017 22:35

Notacomplete I tried Natracare but found the "stickiness" of them not great and as far as I recall Waitrose only did one normal one, eg not a super towel which was a nuisance for me with heavier periods.

RoganJosh · 25/02/2017 22:38

Tesco own also seem fine. I've used the value ones and also the winged after many years with Always.

Me624 · 25/02/2017 22:39

Yup Bodyform or Sainsbury's own. Always make me itch, yeugh.

Warning re the Cezarette - I was on it for 2 blissful period free years before I stopped taking it to ttc. Went back on it 6 weeks after having DS and had an awful time, horror movie type bleeding for weeks on end, soaking through night time pads every hour or so, before I packed the whole thing in. Never had anything like it before DS. The human body is a strange thing.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/02/2017 22:42

Supermarket own brand or Boots. Boots are good as they're often on special offer. They're really good, I only buy the night ones though because I have awful periods now

SuperFlyHigh · 25/02/2017 22:43

Me624 you're right about Sainsburys ones actually they're quite good. Boots do good deals tho especially with their Points.

Expellibramus · 25/02/2017 22:44

I window buy Always at all, even their unscented ones, as I think they're responsible for the general move to scented.

As far as I'm concerned it makes them an unreliable brand as they're producing a product that implies something is intrinsically wrong with women, while providing a 'solution' detrimental to many women, even with considerable feedback.

What pisses me off is that young girls beginning to buy this shit will believe the reasoning behind it Hmm

Expellibramus · 25/02/2017 22:44

*refuse to buy

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/02/2017 22:45

Tesco own brand are fragrance free - well, the night time ones are.

Why do sanitary towel manufacturers think we want to have fanjos that smell of cheap air freshener? Never mind the itching!

Pitchforktotheface · 25/02/2017 22:46

me623 I really hope not. I hate periods and see not point on them as I won't be TTC again.

Bodyform! I've known a couple of people who thought they were allergic to pads, but it turned out they were simply allergic to always. I haven't met a single case of fanjo fire yet that hasn't been fixed by switching to bodyform.
