So now they've dumped the aloe Vera and they are now onto the weight loss coffee. "Welcome to the family " they all chant like Stepford wives. And I've now deleted them all. I can take no more.

Sole I don't know either but seems to be pyramid selling but on Facebook.

RedBullBlood · 25/02/2017 01:28

multi level marketing (aka pyramid selling, but they always deny it).

RedBullBlood · 25/02/2017 01:33

"...consumers often have difficulty telling the difference between an illegal pyramid scheme and a legitimate multi-level marketing opportunity. Governmental regulators and the industry continue to debate where the legal lines are drawn"
From an article online. So, it's legal.

sobeyondthehills · 25/02/2017 01:58

I wonder if years to come these type of things will be added to things like finance disasters.

OneLumpOrSeven · 25/02/2017 07:41

A friend of mine does one of these shopping ones? Being paid to buy food or something. Work from home. I pay a lot of attention you can tell...

honeysucklejasmine · 25/02/2017 07:48

Lump that might have been Life Tree World. I think they are out of business now.

I sadly don't have any bots on my fb either. Sad times.

NeverTwerkNaked · 25/02/2017 07:50

The sad thing is, the rise of MLM should highlight to industry etc that there is a huge pool of people out there who are prepared to work hard as long as they can work flexibly. I always advertise our jobs as having the option to be part time/flexible and we get a much better pool of high quality candidates that way (and they genuinely are flexible).

Www.facebook.com/timelessvie is a great source of info and links

As is www.facebook.com/liestopper

lostlalaloopsy · 25/02/2017 07:59

These MLM lot are obsessed! I have one on Facebook who was my MIL's old neighbour - she never spoke to us. But now it seems I'm her best friend, she has pm'd asking if I could hold a party for my friends at my house to sell her aloe ware, offered to drop off a "free" box of products for me to try and more recently asked if she could come round to give me a presentation about joining the company - I could be earning an extra £250 a month apparentlyI have been very polite in my responses but it's getting a bit tedious now.

SnugglyBedSocks · 25/02/2017 08:00

An ex colleague contacted me about Saladmaster. She wanted to come and cook me a "delicious and nutritional" meal.... with her amazing saucepans.

Have never heard of this one before.

Nquartz · 25/02/2017 08:07

I've got a friend who's just started selling Jamberry, she's the classic target - wants a job that fits round her children.
Before she signed up I sent her all the threads on here about it & she still signed up. We have an understanding that I will never buy from her & so luckily she never tries

Gowgirl · 25/02/2017 08:10

I used the toothpaste and quite liked it, I was happy to buy it from a friend until she started trying to recruit me so I dropped her and didn't order anymore. Back to arm and hammer for me!

StickyMouse · 25/02/2017 08:46

My cousin was showing off a brand new car from a mlm job, was it just a lease car? Or will she give it back now that she has seen the light that Aloe Vera products won't make her the millions of pounds she was promised

MetalMidget · 25/02/2017 08:55

I've only got one MLM afflicted friend, she's recently started pushing Younique. Seems like a bloody cult. :/

I keep getting added to their private selling groups for mass sales

I leave, tick the box that prevents them from readding me...and the bastards make another!!

No I don't want your shitty products, fuck off!!

darksideofthemooncup · 25/02/2017 09:04

I have one FB 'friend' pushing Juice plus at every given opportunity, her life is AMAZING apparently, she has sooo much time to be a wonderful mummy to her two lucky children!! (When I say friend I mean someone who bullied me relentlessly at school) she direct messaged me once in an attempt to recruit me as one of her minions. No thanks love. I keep her on FB as she both repulses and fascinates me and I am interested to see how her AMAZING and FULFILLING journey pans out Grin

Ellisandra · 25/02/2017 09:08

I have only one friend (acquaintance really) pushing shite on fb - she's a Forever Living bore.

I actually expect she's making money. She was previously a successful sales manager, is hard as nails and bright. She will be one of the few who will be making money from recruiting others.

About every 6 months she posts how well she's doing on "Clean 9" weight loss, just before a typical holiday period.

Every time I think - if you weren't lying, which you are, how about you stop yo yo dieting and just maintain your healthy weight? Confused

LilBatFacedGirl · 25/02/2017 09:10

I'm a member of MrsGloss&TheGoss on fb, it's a beauty group and a magnet for these people. The admin are really on the ball though and kick them all out so I love that

Timeless Vie are great campaigners against MLM. I've also just discovered that those live pearl opening fb things are a scam too

MaisyPops · 25/02/2017 09:13

I've bought some Jamberry wraps from a colleague to try because I've not been impressed with some of the nail wraps I've bought in shops. If theyre any good then I wouldn't mind buying them. Thabkfulky she doesn't do the hard sell or the million posts about owning her own business etc.

Got a few Younique clones on my facebook. They seem to be the worst for endless sales, raffles, selfies, makeup parties, lots of "we are so short stocked" get it quick. The stuff looks crap and all the photos seem to have 15 products in the comments. Who has time for thay?

RitaMills · 25/02/2017 09:24

I don't have Facebook but I love reading these threads when they pop up, they are unintentionally hilarious. Do they believe this shit or do they cry into their keyboards as they type up the illusion of a perfect life I wonder.

The closest I've got is an old school friend who works for Audi, I periodically bump into her and she is kind of like a cartoon car salesman from the Family Guy cartoon, perma grin, salesman pitch about come on down and she'll give me a good deal complete with 'get em slugger' arm gestures. If you didn't know what she did for a living you would absolutely know she's in sales, she talks like she's trying to sell you something. It's brilliant.

talidinozzo · 25/02/2017 09:25

I've just realised I have another bot who does those pearl popping parties. Not sure if it's strictly an mlm but it's tacky and shite like most of them are. And she sells said shite with someone who does younique. So tragic that she's resorted to this.

HappyFlappy · 25/02/2017 09:29

YouOk

Thank you for that "Timeless Vie" tip-off. I've just been reading some of the stories - talk about toe-curlingly horrific!

I've never fancied these schemes myself, but have occasionally bought over-priced shite the odd product to support a friend/relative (specifically DH's niece who is in every scam going).

Well - never again.

hazelnutlatte · 25/02/2017 09:34

I have an arbonne selling FB friend. I actually like arbonne products as they are vegan and cruelty free, which is important to me, so I have been buying from her. For a while all she did was promote the products, which is fine with me, but now she has started spouting all of that 'I'm just a single mum with a dream' crap and trying to recruit everyone for this 'amazing business opportunity' so I might just have to delete her!
MLM isn't always terrible if the main point is to sell the products and make a few quid (Avon have been doing this for a long time) but selling this dream of making a fortune to vulnerable skint people is just wrong and I feel sorry for anyone taken in by this.

CaveMum · 25/02/2017 09:35

I've an Australian friend who is part of a weight loss MLM that has now launched in the UK. She keeps sending me PMs about how fab it is and that she wants her dear friends in the UK to get in on the act early.

I've ignored her messages so far but am very tempted to point out to her that a) I'm 7 months pregnant and b) a regular size 10 when not pregnant, so I'm not exactly in need of a weight loss product right now!

The scam company is called Isagenix.

SuperFlyHigh · 25/02/2017 09:39

Does this also apply to people who sell Arbonne etc?

I've got acquaintances who sell this and similar and they're quite worrying, one woman had a really hard sell on me until I said I wasn't interested. My SIL's close friend also sells Arbonne which is worrying but SIL wouldn't buy it and friend is other end of country anyway.

ginger an ex colleague of mine had these utility switch companies and friend of the family too. They can be quite hard sell sometimes. Just have to ignore and block.
