If you have stuff that has to be soaked before being washed do you:

a) fill it with water and leave it on the work surface next to the sink (risking spillage)

b) leave it in the sink in the washing up bowl (meaning you can't fill the kettle)

Use a jug or large tumbler to fill kettle

laurzj82 · 24/02/2017 20:03

A

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/02/2017 20:03

I leave it on the draining board overnight.

Have been known though to stick horrible manky things in the oven, to get them out of the way, and then forget about them till I need the oven again.

B but possibly because we've got a double sink and a utility room with another sink but mainly because I can't stand the thought of greasy water slopping around. It must be contained!

Actually, I'd just chuck it into the dishwasher if I'm honest.

Racheyg · 24/02/2017 20:06

A of course

Frazzled2207 · 24/02/2017 20:18

A of course, but usually on the hob out of the way.

MetalMidget · 24/02/2017 20:22

A!

B leaves me a bit.... eugh.

My husband does B. :(

Jellykat · 24/02/2017 20:26

B, otherwise DS will defo knock the water filled containers onto the floor!

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2017 20:30

If the dishwasher is in use & something needs soaking, I'd do A.

My young adult DC have the bad habit of doing B, which really annoys me. I hate coming downstairs in the morning & finding greasy stuff in the sink.

limon · 24/02/2017 20:31

A

But I'd actually use the dishwasher.

Dh would do b and drive me nutz

Bumpsadaisie · 24/02/2017 20:33

I cant stand greasy stagnant water in my washing up bowl or sink.

So I leave "big nasties" to soak on the work surface on the left of the sink (not on the right, that is where clean stuff drains).

If the dishwasher is running, I might fill the washing up bowl with rinsed off small crockery until they can be loaded in, but not really greasy dirty stuff nor so that the tap is obscured.

drspouse · 24/02/2017 20:46

C have a big sink so we can still fill the kettle.

B

AVY1 · 24/02/2017 21:20

We do B but we have a wooden worktop so A is out plus a large and deep double sink so we can still fill the kettle up.

If I'm washing up elsewhere I'd do the rest of the washing up, put that away and then leave the offending pan soaking on the draining board.

RebelRogue · 24/02/2017 21:30

C. No washing up bowl so it goes in the sink with plenty of room left to fill the kettle
