Parking, assaulted. AIBU to report to police?

Car parked in disabled spot. Only disabled bay on site. I politely pull up alongside and down my window. Person does same. I ask if they are disabled, they reply no, I ask if she would please move as I use a wheelchair and really need the spit.

I'm to,d I'm arrogant and she was refusing to move due to my attitude. So I park alongside. She'd parked, if you imagine an inverse T shape, she would be the I part. She had a car parker behind her but room behind. So I parked I. The T of the inverse T. I got my wheelchair out and displayed my disabled badge. Person 2 comes and asks me what the fuck I'm doing and to move my fucking car. Goes into my car and takes my disabled badge saying I wasn't disabled anymore and goes to their car. I start wheeling to the shop, comes up behind me, drags me back towards my car by the back of the seat. It tilts, back at my car, chair still tilted hits me in the back, tries to get in my car again, puts finger in my face saying I give disabled people a bad name.

I go into shop, came out to find badge on back of car wiper thingy and they'd gone. Should I go to the police? Was I bring unreasonable not to move my car to give them move room to exit the disabled spot (mind they exited the spot anyway)?

That's terrible, definitely call the police!

HelenaGWells · 23/02/2017 17:49

Please report it.

To those saying the OP shouldn't have parked where she did surely if she was causing an obstruction the assholes would not have been able to get out?

StrangeIdeas · 23/02/2017 17:49

That's awful. She assaulted you. Dragging you by your wheelchair, horrible woman. And she stole your blue badge, for a while anyway. I'd be fuming. Definitely call the police. Hopefully there's CCTV showing her numberplate. What a complete bitch. Flowers for you

SauvignonBlanche · 23/02/2017 17:49

That's awful, sorry to hear that, I'm sure the police will investigate.

TheCatsMother99 · 23/02/2017 17:51

Please report it.

I hope you're OK and not too shaken up by it.

barinatxe · 23/02/2017 17:57

Yes obviously report them to the police for assault, however you were in the wrong to block them in even though they were being out of order in parking there. The problem with taking matters into your own hands is that it tends to escalate things, especially when you are up against people who have already demonstrated themselves to be arseholes.

I'm not "victim blaming" - you must report them for the assault which is completely unacceptable. But sometimes it's better to avoid a fight than aggravate the situation, if only for your own safety.

Thattimeofyearagain · 23/02/2017 18:01

Report please, cunts like that need to be stopped.

PointxTaken · 23/02/2017 18:04

drags me back towards my car by the back of the seat WTF!!!

You have been assaulted, please report to the police asap. I sincerely hope you are not feeling too shaken by this.

SquidgeyMidgey · 23/02/2017 18:04

Whatever happened in the run up and however you ended up parking they had no right to do that to you and I hope you're ok OP. Hopefully there will be CCTV to make it more straight forward for the police- please make a complaint, they shouldn't be allowed to treat you like that, how bloody dare they.

e1y1 · 23/02/2017 18:13

Yes report it. What bastards! OH is disabled, and those spaces can mean the difference between being able to enter the store and not leaving the car. The fact some entitled fucker believes they can even think of behaving like this is shocking.

Report. Hope you're ok Flowers

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 23/02/2017 18:15

This is absolutely shocking!! Op you poor thing Flowers

Definitely report it. Hopefully the store will have caught it on their cctv aswell. Quite agree that how you parked is a bit of a non-issue, how that person reacted was completely out of line, no one has the right to treat you like that.

HerOtherHalf · 23/02/2017 18:15

Definitely report it to the police. Anyone that can bully and assault someone who clearly has a disability needs buried in an unmarked grave to be dealt with by the appropriate authorities. Entering your vehicle and taking your blue badge without permission was also an offense, so make sure you mention that to them as well.

OpalFruitsMarathonsandSpira · 23/02/2017 18:25

I think your behaviour was questionable, but nothing, and I mean nothing gives someone the right to put their hands on you without permission.
I would chalk it up to experience if it was me, but you are absolutely entitled to report this to the police as an assault.

IamFriedSpam · 23/02/2017 18:34

Definitely go to the police and speak to shop ASAP in case they delete CCTV.

newnamenew · 23/02/2017 18:36

Shop think their cameras will cover area but will only release CCTV footage to Police. Not ok really, very shaken up, parts of disability worsened as a result. Makes me scared to go out if this is what happens. My bloody amazing DD who was in the car with me took a photo if their number plate.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 23/02/2017 18:38

OP that's horrific, I'm glad your DD got their number plate. Hopefully the police catch them soon. Hope you're ok.

newnamenew · 23/02/2017 18:39

There were two people there, the woman in the car who refused to move throughout. It was the second person who took my badge and hit me. That second person was a man.

OP posts:
mogloveseggs · 23/02/2017 18:41

That is awful. Definitely call the police Flowers

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 23/02/2017 18:41

have you called the police OP? I'm horrified that people actually behave like this. To grab someone's wheelchair and assault them like that is just awful.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 23/02/2017 18:43

Of course you should call the police! Asap. Bunch of absolute shits.

Hope you're home and safe now OP Flowers

user1471506380 · 23/02/2017 18:43

My jaw actually dropped reading this. It's a hate crime. So sorry you suffered this. Definitely a matter for the police. Flowers

RaspberryOverloadTheFirst · 23/02/2017 18:43

Please call the police, that is absolutely disgusting. Shock

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/02/2017 18:44

My bloody amazing DD who was in the car with me took a photo if their number plate

Clever girl Flowers

I'm not one of those MNers who usually cries "call the police" but this is different ... such utterly appalling behaviour deserves nothing less and I really hope some sensible PC puts the fear of god into them

Not that it will make much difference with folk like that

BoneyBackJefferson · 23/02/2017 18:44

please report to the police

PlectrumElectrum · 23/02/2017 18:47

OP this appalling, you need to get this reported ASAP to the police. The CCTV footage needs to be secured urgently before it can be 'lost' or interfered with. It's vital evidence of your assault & they should be charged as a result of this. God some people are just utter scumbags.
