Any one watching, Has political correctness gone mad tonight?

woman12345 · 23/02/2017 21:02

What do you mean Destiny?

SanFranBear · 23/02/2017 21:06

I wonder how Scrotum (oops autocorrect Wink) receives his intelligence briefings. I know the answer is rarely but it fascinates and horrifies me in equal measure how he has no idea what is going on, relying on loony Fox and Friends!

On the Vanity Fair article on Michael Flynn posted a thread or two ago, it said that Obama used to read an abbreviated version over breakfast every day on his own whereas George W would have his read to him by the advisers so he could ask questions and get opinions (I have to say, that impressed me as he must have been aware he wasn't the brightest if Potus', but would still make the effort every day to ensure he understood the world outside).

I guess the point is, the intelligence services would work it any way he wanted so that he was kept up to speed and instead he's just 'I'm like a smart person'... yeah - like one, just not one Angry

PlectrumElectrum · 23/02/2017 21:08

As the press secretary to POTUS, and presumably with some training on media presentation, Spicer cannot possibly be unaware that using the term 'military precision' to describe a policy being rolled out, by the 'commander in chief' of the US military, could well be taken literally? And thus create the reaction and assumptions it did? Nah, not buying it, this is exactly what they intended with the use of that language & it's just another example of the bullshit that passes for official White House communications. Facts eventually catch up with them and another bullshit story is spun to deal with that. It's all just a game to the people behind this crap - Miller, Bannon etc. That's what's more scary with this stuff isn't it?

AcrossthePond55 · 23/02/2017 21:18

Fearful the new administration will abuse its power, the former president’s lawyers are uniting to fight back.

Can I get a real, sincere "Thanks, Obama!!" for this?

Former POTUS as a rule are pretty schtum about their successors. But I have a feeling that there is lots going on behind the scenes. Obama worked hard and put up with so much bullshit during his 8 years that I have a feeling he's not going to let all his hard work go down without a fight. Even if that fight is behind the scenes!

AcrossthePond55 · 23/02/2017 21:25

MsHoolie I know exactly what you mean. You watch (or read) and it's all a bit 'amusing' because your mind just doesn't accept that it's real and/or lasting. There a feeling of 'disconnect' or that you'll wake up and it will have been a dream.

But then there is that split second of clarity where your mind hits you with the reality and you cannot close your eyes (sort of like that scene in Clockwork Orange) and the reality is too much to bear. It's horrible.

Just wishing you peace and the knowledge that we will rise and fight. We are rising and fighting. It may seem incurable, but remember that Trump is not cancer. He's a hemorrhoid!

I've just listened to the (published) call between Gorka and Michael Smith. Fascinating stuff.

Smith is a Republican is he not?

Worship an update on what specifically?

saffronwblue · 23/02/2017 21:51

I agree about cycling between amusement to moments of utter cold horror. We do need to pace ourselves, and protect our mental health because this is a long long haul.
I can't work out if Trump/Bannon is producing huge divisions and rifts in society or just allowing existing ones to surface.

cozietoesie · 23/02/2017 21:53

Thanks, Ginger. An article that merits more than a quick skim, I think? Smile

GingerIvy · 23/02/2017 21:53

Speaking of pacing ourselves.....Grin

Michael Moore has created a resistance calendar. Because protesting Trump needs to be organised www.indy100.com/article/michael-moore-donald-trump-resistance-calendar-not-my-president-united-states-7594786

GingerIvy · 23/02/2017 21:54

cozie I think it shows just how concerning the Flynn thing is, and explains the levels it went though - I don't think that's common knowledge. For those that support Trump, that's something they really should be reading, too.

woman12345 · 23/02/2017 21:59

GingerIvy extraordinary, and Rubio's comments, more to come on this one. And maybe a job for Obama's legal team?

cozietoesie · 23/02/2017 22:02

I think it's quite deliberately not been allowed to be common knowledge, Ginger. Heavy stuff.

GingerIvy · 23/02/2017 22:02

woman It's frustrating that it's so scatter-shot at the moment. So many targets. I feel it needs to focus on specific goals and work towards them.

GingerIvy · 23/02/2017 22:03

cozie well, yes, because if people realised how many security levels it went though, they'd realise it really isn't "just nothing."

cozietoesie · 23/02/2017 22:03

Corruption. That's what gets me every time.
