AIBU - decent pyjamas?!

Hello ladies, I am looking for recommendations for where in the U.K. to buy decent cosy comfortable pyjamas that wash well. I am size 12 (more like a 14 on the bum!) and 5ft6. I have tried loads over the years... I always struggle to find styles I like in M&S as often too old for me (aged 30), or lacy frilly numbers designed by their latest celeb aimed at younger ladies which are not warm or comfortable. I gave Jack Wills a try because my husband's bottoms from there are lovely but the women's styles seem to be made for girls without curves as I needed a massive size to accommodate my bum but then they were enormous on the waist! I recently branched out and tried cyberjammies after reading some good reviews, but I find their sizes come up too small, the leg lengths too short (and I am hardly tall!) and they don't wash well. Where to go from here?! Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Another vote for Primark. Always a great selection of designs, styles and fabrics and cheap as chips, obv.

fruityb · 23/02/2017 09:38

Primark
Sainsbury's
Asda

I get pyjama bottoms mainly and then just wear vests or primark t shirts with them. I've had a pair of Sainsbury's bottoms for about for years and they're still great and not up round my knees!

RocketPockets · 23/02/2017 09:39

These are from m&s and the top is just navy blue.
My PIL buy me a pair every Christmas. I normally just buy comfy leggings and a basic tops from H&M and use them as pyjamas 😊

Mens cotton PJs from gap = winner

hp2 · 23/02/2017 09:40

Another vote for Primark.

Rachel0Greep · 23/02/2017 09:43

Go for separate tops and bottoms. I often buy big tshirts (cheap and cheerful) from the likes of Primark as a top, because I like a long top, and then get separate bottoms.

FurryLittleTwerp · 23/02/2017 09:45

I love Cyberjammies, but they aren't cheap. What's really good is that you can buy tops & bottoms in different sizes.

here

Puremince · 23/02/2017 09:47

All my recent PJs have been from Primark. If you don't see a design you like, go back in a fortnight and there will be something different available.

elQuintoConyo · 23/02/2017 09:51

My Primark jimjams are 4yo and going strong. They are very non-twee, plain cream and biscuity-brown, fleecey.

Another pair are from HandM (trying not to create clicky link!) and are similar style to the Primey pair.

My jammies are washed weekly, before anyone is shocked i only have 2sets!

Mouthfulofquiz · 23/02/2017 09:51

Bonsoir do amazing nightwear if you want to splash out. I've had a pair of pyjamas and matching gown now for 5 years and they have been washed and worn a lot. Still in amazing condition and very warm.

drspouse · 23/02/2017 09:57

Reading with interest as I really only like knit fabric bottoms (it's harder to get these) as well as tops, and prefer long sleeved. It seems you are supposed to have short sleeved knit tops, or long sleeved wovens, and woven bottoms.

I often get a pair I like from People Tree, the latest one has just worn out so going to look for some more.

OldLibrary · 23/02/2017 09:58

Tesco, primark, and tk maxx all good.

Tesco have really pretty prints, and primark has a huge choice.

Got a lovely white cotton waffle dressing gown in there too.

MaryMorpho · 23/02/2017 09:58

I'm a similar shape to you OP. I love Boden pull-ons, which have an elasticated waist but also a drawstring so you can adjust it. in winter they come in extra-warm brushed cotton, they're long enough, and wash well. (And there are some nice prints, as well as sone garish ones...) I always buy in the sale or with a discount though, or you can often get them on ebay. They are just the bottom half, but I wear with a t-shirt or vest.

I also make my own PJ bottoms, because of the frustrations you describe!

TheFairyCaravan · 23/02/2017 09:59

Primark pyjamas are great. More often than not they're 100% cotton too.

I like Next pyjamas, too.

crazypenguinlady · 23/02/2017 10:01

I love Boux Avenue. Lovely fabrics, wash well, nice designs (I'm the same age as you). I even asked my mum for a few pairs for Xmas (in sale) and I can't even wear them for a couple more months as I'm due baby #1 any day...just wanted some nice comfy PJs to look forward to :)

LauraMarling · 23/02/2017 10:01

I also have major big booty problems OP!!

Can I ask where you buy your clothes in general?
I really struggle to get clothes that fit over my curves ( i dot have any fat on me just wide hips massive butt)
This t-shirt dress fashion is killing me thanks to me derrière GrinBlushEnvy

Orangebird69 · 23/02/2017 10:02

Primark fleecy ones are fab. I buy my sil a pair every year for Xmas... its a long standing daft joke thing really but she loves them. The wash and dry well and are super snuggly. And cheap.

user1484394242 · 23/02/2017 10:03

I'm 5'6 and a size 12 too. I bought a few pairs from Next last week. Short sleeves (which I prefer because long sleeves make me panic for some reason) but soft and comfortable fabric. 100% cotton except trimmings. They've been washed a couple times and kept their shape (I use a heated drying rack, not a tumble dryer)

I also get cotton tshirts from shops on amazon-I always go for cotton. Under £5 each

I've not had luck with supermarket sets, the fabric feels wierd after washing

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 23/02/2017 10:04

Separates from Fat Face are my favourite.

SuperFlyHigh · 23/02/2017 10:04

I don't like pyjamas and have switched to nightshirts.

Autograph have a lovely soft white or light pale pink nightshirt but they also do pyjamas in the same material.

NancyDonahue · 23/02/2017 10:10

I get the Jane and Bleecker ones from Costco. They are super soft and cosy and wash really well.

Violetcharlotte · 23/02/2017 10:26

Primark. I buy a size up from my normal size. Super comfy and wash well.

spongebob5 · 23/02/2017 18:25

I had some for Christmas from Dorothy Perkins, slightly more expensive than tesco, asda , primark etc but really cosy. M&S pjs when I looked are old fashioned & I'm not that young (38)! I always buy a size bigger too

OhSoggyBiscuit · 23/02/2017 18:28

My favourite pyjamas are from Primark. Cheap and cute sets.

MTBMummy · 23/02/2017 18:37

DKNY do awesome PJ's I had similar problems, I bought two pairs a couple of years ago (end of season sale - hence being able to afford them) but they're still comfy and fit wonderfully.

And they wash and tumble dry without any problems.
