I completely agree that breast is best etc etc but this???

I think the best reminder of breastfeeding would probably be a photograph of you breastfeeding. Bit more sensible.

Hgmother · 22/02/2017 21:38

Breastmilk...jewellery? What even is that? Am I missing something here...

Crunchyside · 22/02/2017 21:38

That's really cool, thanks for sharing the link Grin I don't think it's gross. It's not like other bodily fluids. Didn't you see that thing that went viral recently about breastmilk killing bacteria? (Found the article here!)

Surreyblah · 22/02/2017 21:39

My memento of bfeeding is nipples like bloody bullets!

Sparklingbrook · 22/02/2017 21:40

I didn't breastfeed for long so I could have had a necklace made of Aptamil. Grin

SleeptightDaisy · 22/02/2017 21:41

I got one of these to celebrate/remember breastfeeding my Ds will add to it when I stop feeding my Ds.

Is breastmilk jewellery a disgusting idea?
BenLinusatemyhomework · 22/02/2017 21:43

I was thinking that I didn't find it disgusting but I didn't really see the point and then I clicked the link and was all... Ooooh pretty!

Suppose they are more ethical than pearls, wouldn't pay that much for it though.

OddShoe · 22/02/2017 21:48

I don't think it's disgusting but it is very odd.

I've breastfed both mine for a long time but I don't see the need to commemorate it, it's not really that big of a deal surely Confused each to their own I guess.

DizzyFizzyLizzy · 22/02/2017 21:52

considers enquiring about a bracelet made from SMA

Blueskyrain · 22/02/2017 21:54

Surely the best long term reminder of breastfeeding, is your child that you breastfed...

To me, its a bit weird, and a bit gross. I don't get jewellery made out of bodily fluids, whether thats blood, wee, pus, poo, spunk or breastmilk.

Iggi999 · 22/02/2017 22:00

I think pandora charms are disgusting. That makes just as much sense as your OP. What is it about the milk that makes it "disgusting", rather than just not to your taste??

oblada · 22/02/2017 22:02

I think it's not everyone's cup of tea (bf my first for 5yrs and still going on with second at 2.5yrs but don't feel the push to get those either) but to find it gross is a bit worrying. Other bodily fluids are not used to sustain a tiny baby. It's gross and ignorant to put them all at the same level! What's disgusting about breastmilk?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 22/02/2017 22:04

Setting aside the fact that breastfeeding was the unhappiest and miserable time of my life and just looking at them as pieces of jewellery they are dull and generic.

Blueskyrain · 22/02/2017 22:14

Other bodily fluids are used to sustain our life (and the life of a child before birth).

Blood, for example, is an essential fluid for both of us, and signifies quite a lot in life. Yet, having jewellery made of your own blood would generally be consdiered a bit weird and gross.

Equally, having jewellery made of a soggy biscuit, or some SMA, which may have been used to feed a tiny baby would seem odd.

Writerwannabe83 · 22/02/2017 22:16

I first saw these advertised a few months after I'd stopped breast feeding my son, thought they were beautiful and felt disappointed that I had missed out.

However, I'm now pregnant again and am already forward thinking about when I'm going to pump off a few ounces and send it off to be made into a necklace Smile

CaraAspen · 22/02/2017 22:18

Ugh.

CaraAspen · 22/02/2017 22:19

What next - placenta jewellery?
Gross gross gross

oblada · 22/02/2017 22:21

I don't find blood gross but other fluids maybe. But not breastmilk or blood... If you had survived a serious illness through some form of blood transfusion or something maybe you would want something that reflects that time in your life? I don't know I haven't gone through that and again even the breastmilk jewelleries are my cup of tea. But I can see why others may like the idea. What is gross is that others would find it gross....

Sparklingbrook · 22/02/2017 22:21

I should have kept all the DS's milk teeth as they fell out.. Made a bracelet or something. Grin

Iggi999 · 22/02/2017 22:23

blood, wee, pus, poo, spunk or breastmilk
Hmm, which of these are suitable for human consumption? (It's not blood, wee, pus, poo or spunk)

Congratulations on your pg, writerwannabe Smile

Christinayangstwistedsista · 22/02/2017 22:24

D's had loads of shitty nappies, I really should have made a bag out of them

SittinginaSleazySnackBar · 22/02/2017 22:25

I can just imagine the conversation.
"I like your earrings."
"Oh thanks they are pearls of my breast milk."
It's not for me, but each to their own. I have kept DDs umbilical cord clip and my friend thinks that's weird.

8DaysAWeek · 22/02/2017 22:26

Actually Cara you can get jewellery with placenta inclusions.

I have a lovely breastmilk necklace. They breastmilk has been set into a spiral shape and put into a clear pearl-shaped resin with flecks of silver through it to represent 6 months of BFing. I love it as BFing has been a big thing for me.

I will admit to at first thinking wtf. Can't explain why I thought that then, or really why I don't think it now, but each to their own Smile

Didn't you just know that the website would be called Indigo Willow.
