to ask what is your favourite / disliked emoijis ?

i'm most likely to use the on here as i have a silly sense of humour and i have a mad grin in real life [think slightly deranged], i like the emojis in general but i cannot stand that stupid crying with laughter one.
dc and dh are on fb and they point it out on posts to me to wind me up as it is so irritating, it seems that it is one of the most frequently used with mildly amusing posts and hardly worth a smile let alone wetting yourself over. 'my 6 yo dd spilt baked beans on the table' said emoiji x 4 .really ? ffs how is that so funny ?

That's an emoticon. It's a face made up of punctuation

That's a smiley. It's a little picture made by MN. It's specific to the platform I'm using. Different websites or chat applications etc used to have different smileys. Skype still do. I couldn't copy and paste it and put it into a different website, it wouldn't be recognised.

This is an emoji. It's pretty much " a letter".
It will look different in different fonts, (the same way the letter a looks different in different fonts) but it should have the same basic meaning.
Unicode decide what letters computers recognise and how computers say "I am using this letter right now"

But where Pile of Poo was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010, Unicorn Face was approved as part of Unicode 8.0 in 2015, so some people on older phones that have not been updated won't be able to see it at all.

I dislike all emojis, they are best left to the DC. I am a bit when I see adults using them.

I like the simple set of MN ones as they are very neat and don't get in the way.

I like 😐 and 😒 from my phone, and and from MN. I agree 🤣 is unnecessary when 😂 serves the purpose adequately! I also use the 🧀 emoji with my cheese loving friends quite a lot.

I like this one ✊🏻 Not sure what it's supposed to mean, but I use it for wanker.

The moment I realised I was no longer young and cool was when I realised I still type emojis out by hand.

That's not a real emoji navy. It came up automatically when I posted the hand one. I think it was because I changed the colour of it. And it's gone now anyway. Weird. Probably because I'm on my phone.

I am seeing a girl's face followed by a thing that looks like a stamp Navy then the geek face on the next line.

Quite a few emojis are Japanese-inspired. It makes sense that cultures which have pictographic written language would be particularly keen on them.

I get that but don't know why the average person would need a sushi emoji.

Just confirms my thoughts that they are unnecessary for me.

I have to admit they're not ones I've ever used - unlike that one which is my fave.

I just like everything neat and tidy and grown up. The emojis in thread titles make Active look all messy, and like a teen's FB.

I prefer words and MN emojis.

Depending what device I'm on, the heart-sushi-fists are square-square-square.
