AIBU that £12,995 for a cooker is just ridiculous as it doesn't even self clean or am I more AIBU to start a completely pointless thread because I'm having the life sucked out of me hoping some one will answer my really boring thread about glasses.

Is it one of those large range style? It does seem pricey but I have not bought a cooker for a while so maybe I am out of touch!

well cars don't self clean and many cost way more than that!

Cooking for some people is a hobby and they do it every day. Crazy price for a cooker but I'd happily pat it for an Aga. Luckily my house came with mine so I didn't have to fork out myself.

I exaggerated the price it actually £12,700 but if you view on pc instead of mobile it £10,010 Hmm

I cook for survival and still think it would look so pretty in my kitchen if I just took out the kitchen sink and a few units to fit it in, oh and had the money.

£12,995 for that!

Is that for a massive one with more than 4 burners and 2 or more oven compartments and a hot plate and other bits and pieces? When we were looking at new cookers and ovens they seemed to cost roughly £500 for a self cleaning, double oven, 4 burner gas cooker. In the end my mum gave us her almost new one as she was having a fitted one put in so we didn't have to fork out for anything!

For that money I'd want it to self clean, do the shopping, cook the food and tickle my arm until I fall asleep at night!!

I suppose that is the type of oven you would have if you had one of those kitchens that cost £40k+.

Is it one of those that costs a fortune to run, takes ages to get used to using, needs an expensive service every so often and has to be on all the time so your kitchen is too hot for most of the year.

It does look quite nice though.

I would leave the price tag hanging on it so everyone would know i am rich. knew someone who paid 4k for a cooker, it is very nice though.

Mine was 400 7 years ago i think and that was splashing out for us! lol.
needs a clean.
20k for a fridge? blimey, what i could do with that.

I think as Jaxingjump says above, if it's your passion then why not if you can afford it?

However, if your soufflé still doesn't rise in the bugger you'd be £13k worth of pissed off rather than £500 of pissed off!!!

I once bought a Lacanche fancy french oven. 20 yrs ago. It was in a clearance and had a dent on the plinth at floor level. 70% off but still expensive 2k I think. At time I was SAHM and I love cooking. I miss that cooker. It's still going strong in our old house. Would say it was worth it for us at the time.
However 12k??? You could get take-out for years for that.

my parents bought their house in Blackburn in the 50's for £500 ....and one of my aunts left me a house (in Blackburn) in the early 80's and it was worth 19,000 .......

My cooker went a month before I sold the house so I bought the cheapest one in the shop to replace - think it was $450 (about 270 quid)

And it self cleaned... Grin

That looks like a cooker you would find in a professional kitchen... that's probably why it's over £10k

I've also seen a shop that does 'outdoor kitchens'
Which are fancy BBQs built into a kitchen bit, with fridge drawers and other fancy things

oh to be rich and have an outdoor garden eh?
so many lovely things i would love to own.
our bbq is decades old now i think, the table and chairs have had it.
the garden needs TLC too. am really depressed now.

I've just never seen the point of 'status symbol' kit for the kitchen. 90% of the day it does nothing and when it does it calls the shots and not you. Maybe I would get a professional gas range second hand, the more battered the better. Now that's real status in my book.

i hate cooking so my tiny cooker is enough for me.
They are becoming much more trendy i think - especially in magazines with these kitchens with no handles that cost 50 to 60 k or whatever.
always huge kitchens too - mine is very small.
i think all this just makes people more miserable as most people just live in normal houses with normal places to cook in.
