I know we're in dark times but the news was so gruling tonight. Just felt more diminishing than usual.

I thought it was more than ok. The material looks like Chanel boucle. I would wear it.

Our local female newsreaders looked like a tin of lurid Kerry green paint had vomited on them last night. Bad enough one of them was wearing a jacket in it, the other had a dress and cardy ensemble in the same horrible shade. Wtf was wardrobe thinking? I was checking the calendar to see if St Patrick was coming early this year and praying the weather guy wouldn't be turned out in a shirt or tie in the same colour - fortunately he settled for tasteful lilac shirt/navy tie combo.
And yes, it's shallow and yes, there are far more serious things going on but if they want us to concentrate on the actual news the newsreaders should tone down the distracting outfits so we can concentrate on what they're saying rather than 'wtf is he/she wearing?'.

I liked her outfit and would wear it. Other than that I think Fiona is a condescending arse.

We are convinced that BBC Scotland has no wardrobe people working over the weekend and the newsreaders/weather people are allowed to make their own choices. During the week they're all (both men and women) nicely turned out and well coordinated. Soon as Saturday morning comes, out come the day glo ties, clubwear and dodgy jewellery.

I quite like that boucle look - can't stand FB when she goes soft and simpery!

Going with the theme - what about Kathy Newman on Channel 4 with her super-glam dresses, with cut-way armholes? I think women newsreaders should wear a jacket.

Is it as bad as the outfits that the (intelligent charismatic) Rachel Riley wears on Countdown? I have watched a lot of Countdown this past few weeks and boggle at some of the clothing choices.

Mens clothes don't normally get commented on because they are usually snooze boring. But didn't it cause ructions when that weather man did the weather in jeans one time?

Happy to discus all the famine and war in that news bulletin too, and frequently criticise male TV presenters, but Fiona is normally a very smart dresser, and last night she looked just awful. Wardrobe dept let her down badly.

No matter what some on MN say, appearance IS important, and people DO judge people by what they wear.
