long. Some friends are visiting this weekend, and I was looking for somewhere nice to take them for lunch tomorrow.

AIBU to ask you if you might know of any nice lunch places around Camberwell please?

I was thinking of maybe asking them if they'd like to go to Lordship Lane in Dulwich, as I really like it there, but it's quite far, so I'd be really grateful if you might be able to suggest somewhere nearer please!

Thanks so much, everyone! :)

Oops, sorry! I think the first part of my post got cut off. The first sentience is meant to say: 'I'm living in Camberwell, but haven't been here very long' :)

There are loads of fab places in Camberwell
The Crooked well, the Camberwell arms are good for roasts (see the standard paper for review), Theo's is fab for pizzas, nape is new and trendy for tapas, the Greek is fun too.

Toomanywheeliebinsagain · 17/02/2017 21:57

By the way, camberwellians have a special name for people that go to lordship lane...Grin

Awks · 17/02/2017 21:59

Is Denmark Hill far away? There's a cafe called Lovewalk which is lush

Bloodybridget · 17/02/2017 22:01

I don't live round there, but Herne Hill has some good places to eat, I think - I just Googled and found Mimosa in Half Moon Lane.

PamplemousseRouge · 17/02/2017 22:03

Wow thanks for the suggestions, Awks and toomany! Smile ooh I forgot about Theo's!! Once ordered lovely pizza from them :) oh god what's the nickname, toomany?? Grin

Thanks, bridget! :) and Awks, sorry I didn't reply to your comment earlier - I'm not too far from Denmark Hill and have heard good things about Lovewalk, so will definitely try it out!

Hop on a bus to Brixton - I love Brixton market village and loads to choose from.

EssentialHummus · 18/02/2017 00:23

If you hop on the 484 (?) bus to Brockley both the Gantry and the Orchard are great.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 18/02/2017 00:28

I love Brixton but there are very few places there that a group of 4 people could have a relaxed and leisurely meal on a Saturday lunchtime.

Tavernwench · 18/02/2017 00:28

I'm with lauren jump on the bus to brixton it will take 10 mins, there is a lovely restaurant behind the the fish market, it looks like a dive but does the most amazing squid.

Nightmanagerfan · 18/02/2017 00:29

Hope you choose one of those options ~ they are all great. True Camberwellians are v proud people but they are also annoyed that people don't put their village on the map. People say that they live in Peckham or Dulwich borders as both are perceived to be posher/trendier than Camberwell. So those that regularly go to lordship rather than the delights of the well are called snobs! Brixton doesn't have the same issues..

I'm with Actually, finding a relaxed table for four in Brixton on a Saturday is a nightmare. Nice for a browse, not for a lunch and catch up. I'm chucking in another vote for Theo's and I'm extremely fussy about pizza. Have fun!

EssentialHummus · 18/02/2017 09:33

Ooh hesterton I love Silk Road! Drooling a bit now at the thought of their lamb and noodles.

sunnyhills · 18/02/2017 09:33

Lordship Lane is only about 10 mins on a bus from Camberwell - 185 ,176,484 .

Or hop on a bus 185 ,36 ,436 to Vauxhall and try Lassco's www.lassco.co.uk/locations/brunswick-house/

it's what they call quirky and not as expensive or posh as it sounds !

I think Camberwell suffers a bit from being based around such a busy main road intersection .

I'm really keen to try all of the places you've mentioned, thank you so much for all of the fab suggestions :) we ended up going to the Kennington pub in the end, which was delicious, but I can't wait to go to all of the other places you've posted about :)
