When dh has Cereal he drinks the left over milk from the bowl after he finishes. Aibu to think that it's discusting and It's not right or is he to think it's OK and normal to do it?

I sometimes give my DS a straw to drink the leftover cereal milk.

KoalaDownUnder · 14/02/2017 02:29

I don't have to behave there as I would if I were in a hotel and nor do my family.

Sure, go for it.

I don't feel as if table manners are to be saved especially for hotels, but whatever works for you. Smile

I drink the left over milk but only if I'm having Coco Pops.... My boyfriend thinks it's a really childish thing for a 31 year old woman to do but come on it's chocolate milk, it has to be done! Halo

BBCNewsRave · 14/02/2017 04:03

I think it's fine but you have to Hmm at the person doing it in mock disapproval. They in turn have to look slightly embarassed. Definitely don't do it in front of DC, because they need to learn not to... so in future they can drink from the bowl in secret/give disapproving looks/look guilty etc, and teach their DC not to do it... and so on. Grin Isn't that how a lot of manners and things work, or is it just me?!

Also: Weetabix. Never any leftover milk there. Could use it as flood defences.

Naicehamshop · 14/02/2017 07:54

That would put me right off someone. No one over the age of ten should do this. Confused

Topseyt · 14/02/2017 08:51

Clearly I am under 10, but I don't care.

There's a time and a place etc..

piginboots · 14/02/2017 12:04

BBCNewsRave you are so right.

spooniestudent · 14/02/2017 20:53

I'm now really fancying a big bowl of coco pops with loads of milk Blush wonder if dp can be convinced to pop down the shops at all

kimann · 14/02/2017 20:56

This morning (brace yourself!) I poured the remaining milk from my honey cheerio bowl into my tea. Grin

lurkingnonparent · 14/02/2017 21:13

In our house if we have something that involves large amounts of very nice gravy we will both shout "look over there!" at something that isn't there and then lick our plates when the other one "isn't looking " because it it OUR house and our mothers aren't there. ( even though we have a combined age of 85 this still feels rebellious) ShockGrin

I don't understand what the big deal is. It is not disgusting. It is akin to having a glass of milk with your meal.

ProfessionalPirate · 08/03/2017 10:54

It's bad table manners. Up there with licking knife/plate, talking with mouth full, reaching over the table etc etc. Some people aren't bothered with these things, but it would annoy me. Especially as it's setting an example to the dc.

ProfessionalPirate · 08/03/2017 11:00

And I don't understand this concept of having a different set of manners for home vs out. For one thing, manners are much easier when they are habitual. This is especially true for children, I don't know how you can expect young ones to suddenly behave differently just because they are in a restaurant. Manners should be learnt and practiced at home.
