To STILL be checking the baby's breathing?!

He's 5 months.

At what point does your heart stop flying into your mouth when they're sleeping, and doing that shallow sleep breathing. And you stare for ages to watch their chests rise and fall. Even though their cheeks are pink. And theyre all warm and cosy. And clearly alive but sleeping.

WHEN DO YOU JUST BELIEVE THEYRE FINE?!!!

(Lighthearted but also.... WHEN?!? Grin )

Ds when he went into his big boys bunk.
He was 2!!

Sirzy · 13/02/2017 16:09

Ds is 7 and I still do it - although in my defence he has asthma so that excuses some of my paranoia I hope!

Teenspov · 13/02/2017 16:09

My mum still does that on occasion-and I'm 17...

MommaGee · 13/02/2017 16:09

No idea. Mine is 20 months and on the bus the other day he was sleeping and breathing really shallowly. Still did the hand on chest thing
Go in and check in the night tp make sure he's not choked himself on his o2 pipes and the angelcare mat is still working haha

Chattymummyhere · 13/02/2017 16:10

I still check my older two who are 7 and 5 is they are ill. My nearly year old is still on a sensor pad so I'm no help really.

Buddahbelly · 13/02/2017 16:10

So glad Im not the only one who still does this.

NuclearSwan · 13/02/2017 16:11

I check my DD's breathing every night and she's nearly 11!

Hatemylifenow · 13/02/2017 16:11

Er...I haven't done that since he was really tiny Confused

If he's asleep then I'm sleeping!!!!

I sometimes think I'm a rubbish mother....he's my PFB as well. God knows how neglected the next one will be.

mummyofmoomoos · 13/02/2017 16:11

I still check all of mine, 4 year old, 5 year old and... um... 15 years old 😂

DianaMemorialJam · 13/02/2017 16:11

With the first one probably about a month or two, with this one he's 8 weeks and I'm already chilled. After all when they sleep it means I can crochet catch up on washing Grin

Hatemylifenow · 13/02/2017 16:12

OP ain't coming back.

SmileEachDay · 13/02/2017 16:12

My DC woke me up in the night to cheerily enquire "are you still alive mummy?"

I'm 42.

notanothernamechangebabes · 13/02/2017 16:13

Oh Jesus.

lifenow you're not a rubbish mother. You're clearly just sane.

Minimum 17 years and 7 months to go then...

May start breaking out the Kalms. (For me. Not him.) Grin

Oh God, my Dd is 3 and I still check her every night. I go in and put my hand on her chest or I prod her...

She is napping on the other couch and very, very quiet so I am going to do it now Grin

enfru · 13/02/2017 16:17

DS is 9 and I still check on him before I go to bed and if I get up in the night for the toilet or something! Can't help myself, have to make sure he's still alive 😂

londonrach · 13/02/2017 16:18

SmileEachDay · 13/02/2017 16:18

228agreenend · 13/02/2017 16:20

Mine are 17 and 14 and still occasionally check (Blush), although it's usually in the morning if they have in unusually late, rather than night. One can near be to careful..
