To ask about wedding photography

Recently got engaged and have now started planning. Trying to buget appropriate amounts for each part of the wedding and am a bit stuck on the photos. Was wondering if there were any photographers that could give me an idea of prices or anyone who has got married recently etc. Thanks

Definitely depends on area. My DH is a wedding photographer he only offers one package with several add ons, it's £595 for 6 hours starting 30mins before ceremony, you get a photo book and pre wedding shoot (some call it an engagement shoot) you also get a signing mount and a dvd of all images (watermarked). The extras are pre bridal, extra time, parents albums and you can purchase copyright release. He is north east based.

Ours is £1500 plus £150 for the engagement shoot but they're throwing in videography! Well impressed. They're a small enterprise just starting out but their work is fab! Our original quote was £1400 just for photos.

We paid a uni photography student £50 to do ours from getting ready to dinner. She gave us a USB stick of the pictures and they were lovely.

We paid £2400 for ours which included getting ready up to the evening reception. He was absolutely amazing, couldn't have asked for anything more and our images are beautiful. You really pay for quality but the most important thing is you get on with them. You will be spending most of your day with them! Good luck finding one!

No help with costs but make sure that you know what you are getting photograph number wise. Check you get them all if possible and don't have to pay an extortionate amount for extras.

im on my second marriage, first one i paid £1600 for photographer and he put the album together without consulting us. double chins galore despite normally taking a good photo! (he was small so could have been the angle) he didnt get photos of the rings, cake, room or garter and the first dance shots were awful as he took them from beneath us and i was taller than my partner (wearing heels)and i looked like hagrid! we got an album for this price but its in the loft now as i'm divorced.

he tried to convince me i looked amazing but i had a god awful double chin and shiny face which for a professional photographer he should have taken the picture at a better angle and photoshopped the shine out. he ended up doing the album again for me with guest pictures so i had cake pictures etc.

this time i am paying £500 including engagement shoot and looking at previous work i'm hoping to be happy. i will get a disk of all photos to do what i want with.

nobody looks at an album, i just want a few pictures to frame and the rest can be put on social media for guests to take as they wish

Around 1.6k four ours. Including engagement shoot, usb and bound book of photos. I'm in London, wedding in the SE. It's for all day - from getting ready to after the first dance.

A friend of mine is using this guy he's based in Essex I think and I haven't dared ask the price!

We paid £600 5 years ago and got full rights to all the digital images

You pay for their time. For each hour they spend taking photos they'll spend double editing it. So a 3 hour slot may well take 6 hours editing time.
