To be fair, 'brining peace to the Middle East' is more of a question of degrees of failure isn't it?

Confused not sure what to make of this. NASA scientist forced to unlock work phone at border?

FarAwayHills · 13/02/2017 16:51

Just trying to catch up.

Has the WH or Trump had anything to say about the California dam evacuation yet? Or are they ignoring any state that didn't vote Trump. Hmm

Deejoda · 13/02/2017 17:02

That hasn't been mentioned on here yet...and we all know it's always breaking news on hereWink

BiglyBadgers · 13/02/2017 17:04

I couldn't get the above link to the video of Tradeau and Trump meeting to work so found one on the BBC. www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/headlines/38961397

The body language is interesting. Tradeau obviously comes out knowing trump's moves and ready for them. He has a huge smile on the whole time and alpha males Trump out of the water with the shoulder grab. The later clip of them sitting in chairs also has Tradeau showing quite dominant body language. He takes the handshake from above and sits back in his chair looking open and relaxed, while Trump is leaning forward with his hands together looking a bit uncomfortable.

It's rather enjoyable to watch in a childish way Grin

AndHoldTheBun · 13/02/2017 17:09

Bigly, Trudeau's control and deflection of Trump power jerk handshake was a thing of beauty Smile

peaceout · 13/02/2017 17:12

Justin Trudeau, he's a bit of alright isnt he :o
with the shoulder grab it looked like he was firmly grasping the scrotus upper arm to see how firm his triceps and delts are
(withered and squishy no doubt)

FarAwayHills · 13/02/2017 17:26

I'm sure Californians might have something to say about fortunes being spent on an invisible wall while their crumbling dam could lead to whole towns being submerged by water.

Lweji · 13/02/2017 17:42

and these would be the workers hanging around while he's reading classified paperwork at the dining room table (by the light of a phone torch!!!)

And according to the proposed changes about whistle-blowers, they could then be arrested just for accidentally seeing anything on those phones, right?

PausingFlatly · 13/02/2017 17:45

Only in the UK, Lweji.

Unless there are proposed changes about whistleblowers in the US as well. I lose track...

BiglyBadgers · 13/02/2017 17:58

Justin Trudeau, he's a bit of alright isnt he

Most certainly is. As was noted on an earlier thread the Mexican PM is also rather easy on the eye. It must be most trying for Trump's ego to be stuck between them. No wonder he is so keen on building walls Grin

In fact, just for your enjoyment here's a picture of the Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and US President Barack Obama. Be still my beating heart Grin

FlyMeToTheMoonLiterally · 13/02/2017 18:00

Hahaha, Trudeau is very easy on the eye, isn't he, really lovely looking, think I have a new crush, never fancied a Prime Minister before!

ZebraOwl · 13/02/2017 18:00

I come bearing anecdata of U.S. [work] visa fuckwittage, mes amies: Trump administration's inability to find its arse with both hands &/or distinguish said body part from the elbow is spinning out into some quite epic [work] visa fail. And not for people from countries on the shit list. Or who've been to said countries. Or whose names "look a bit Muslim". Not, clearly, that those things are in any way acceptable, but it seems things are... stalling... far beyond the expected, and in a way beyond the normal bureaucratic process.

This comes from a very lovely erstwhile ballet classmate who I was rather surprised to see in the studio today, what with the bit where she moved to the States for work a couple of years ago. She's back because she did all the right things for her visa renewal &... nope. Not denied, I hasten to add, just... nothing. Lots of people in a similar situation when she tries chasing in person at the embassy apparently. If it doesn't get sorted in the next few weeks she's going to have to move back here, which... gah.

(Oh & thank you to the PP who were so kind about my woesplosion on the last thread. Flowers)

Wasn't there supposed to be some Big Pronouncement from the orange one today? I suppose there's still time.

Do we think his man crush on Putin will fade now that he's met Trudeau?

peaceout · 13/02/2017 18:06

really lovely looking, think I have a new crush, never fancied a Prime Minister before
I wonder how we would feel about Trump if he was really handsome with the body of a greek god?

I feel bad asking the question because it trivializes the seriousness of the fact that this odious man is potus, but surely the fact that he is physically so unappealing makes it easier to dislike him?

FlyMeToTheMoonLiterally · 13/02/2017 18:09

surely the fact that he is physically so unappealing makes it easier to dislike him?

I think it's not just his looks that make him unappealing though, he might be attractive if he carried himself in a different way. It's his expressions, body language, gestures, harsh/angry expressions even when smiling, tone of voice, pretty much everything

BiglyBadgers · 13/02/2017 18:11

I wonder how we would feel about Trump if he was really handsome with the body of a greek god?

I suppose at least watching him speak would be a marginally less hideous experience. On the other hand I find attractive people can become very unattractive very quickly when you find out they are bastards.

merrymouse · 13/02/2017 18:15

Re: Trump's appearance, I think you have to be a certain kind of person to choose an elaborate comb over and orange skin as your signature style.

Obviously he is never going to look like Justin Trudeau who is 45. However, Trump gives the impression that he doesn't realise that.

FlyMeToTheMoonLiterally · 13/02/2017 18:16

Zebra was your friend from a Muslim majority country originally or was she not even from one? Either way - that is very very scary, I have no idea what rulebook the border patrol are using right now...

peaceout · 13/02/2017 18:18

You're right FlyMe,
if he was a decent honorable person he'd not give off such a horrible 'aura' with his body language and facial expressions, that might not make him 'fanciable' but it would certainly make him like-able...a person you might warm to.

The way we see a person is colored by so much more than physical appearance, it's affected by everything they say and do.

PausingFlatly · 13/02/2017 18:25

Oh I expect Trump to be both arse-creepy to Trudeau and to diss him wildly to anyone who will listen.

That's if the orange one perceives Justin is better looking than him and more popular.

BiglyBadgers · 13/02/2017 18:26

There is a guy in my team who even the most generous person would not describe as physically good looking. However, he is super nice, funny and smart. He has a very lovely girlfriend and I can certainly see why as his personality makes him an attractive guy. I have also known the opposite happen.
