To be ashamed of the Labour Party leadership

Long term member, did not support Corbyn, but even I am surprised by quite how bad he's been.

Where is the opposition? I get that Brexit is difficult, but where is Labour on the collapse of the NHS, the explosion of homelessness, the decimation of local council funding and the ticking bomb that is school funding?

Why is it that we now look to the Lords, the Cof E and petitions to be the opposition?

Shocking state of affairs.

The anti sematism was a red herring but a lot of people confuse anti zionism with anti semitism, its not anti semetic to believe that what israel is doing in the west bank is attrocious

It's certainly not a red herring. Please don't minimise it.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 13/02/2017 18:23

The accusations of anti semitsm were proven to be false, if you have proof of the opposite please clarify

is the link to his appearance and here is the report.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2017 18:32

oh yes that report by Shami Chakrabarti

or rather Baroness Chakrabarti

I think most of us saw the press conference, understood what was said in his speech and saw that he ignored one of his mp's being heckled that she found very upsetting given the sensitivity of the situation he choose to ignore this

To avoid confusion, the appearance and report I referred and linked to was the later, select committee report, not the Charkrabati report.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 13/02/2017 18:39

Thats it piglet slowly back away from the implication you gave there there

makeourfuture · 13/02/2017 18:40

Can we get back to policy? I am wondering what objections you guys have to shrinking wealth inequality. Is this something you support?

Implied is enough for a libel case

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2017 18:46

a report is written that supports a party leaders point of view and then he/she offers them a peerage - something that leader had openly been critical of

no not strange at all Hmm

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/02/2017 18:50

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed I actually find the denying of anti semitism quite chilling tbh.

flippinada · 13/02/2017 18:54

Slarti people are pointing to the increased membership as one of his successes. But how much of a success is it really - where has that momentum and enthusiasm gone?

The bottom line for me is, if JC was the inspirational leader and galvanising force for good people claim he is then none of us on the left who actually WANT the LP to be successful would be having this discussion. We'd all be happy the party was doing well. But for me and many others he is neither of those things.

Lalsy · 13/02/2017 18:58

Make - none and of course I do.

The main issues raised on this thread are not about JC's policies.

Slarti · 13/02/2017 18:59

flippinada Nobody has said it equates to winning a GE so it's a strawman to argue against that. It is a success, however. It's just a shame some people want to turn everything they can into a negative.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2017 18:59

so did I

he choose to not make a statement on Ken Livingstone until he was forced to

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2017 19:03

But he hasn't won over more voters the local elections last year were the worst results for an opposition party in over 25 years

its votes that matter and he is losing votes

Lalsy · 13/02/2017 19:06

Slarti, do you think JC can win a GE? And if so, how?

He is currently on minus 40 in favourability ratings (including among Lab 15 voters) and Labour is 24% behind in voting intentions - there are no examples of a party in modern history making that big a comeback AFAIK. And polls tend to over-emphasise Lab support.

Lalsy · 13/02/2017 19:07

(sorry, not minus 40 among Lab15 voters but behind TM)

20nil · 13/02/2017 19:13

Incredible denial here. He is not bringing new voters in; he is not holding this hideous government to account; he does not have a grip on the vital issues of the day - especially Brexit. Nobody made him suggest the immediate triggering of Brexit. He did that and it represented the latest in a shocking Brexit campaign. Not the fault of the MSM or JC's critics; his fault. Do you seriously think we can support him blindly when there is no evidence of progress? New members mean fuck all. We need voters and he is not getting them.
