What on earth is this? (Found outside my house)

Yesterday came home to find a bit of folded-up paper wedged in a crack in the fence wall bit (pavement goes right past it). Opened it up to find 2x2p coins inside unrecognisable writing - see pic!
What is this?

How do I dl the pics so the letters aren't blurred? I speak a few languages and can recognise a few more. Is it the Roman alphabet or something else?

Could be geo cashing. It's a game where people leave Co ordinates on a map of where they have placed a prize(small toy/coin/book) etc. Other people find it and replace it with another prize. Google it. X
