Lweji Apparently he's violated some laws discussing official foreign policy as a citizen only (it was before Trump was inaugurated and before Flynn was given his position) with a foreign policy advisor of another country. He basically was interfering with the (at the time) current government policies - especially bad as Obama and his admin were in the process of increasing sanctions on Russia and Flynn was telling them behind Obama's back not to worry, as soon as Trump got in, they'd drop the sanctions. Big bad.

Especially with our Sec of Def Mattis in his hearing admitting Russia remains a major threat to US.

Yes, my question is more in relation of why this would matter more than other scandals.

To be fair, I understand the legal issue (and by all means they should run with it, but it could mean a worse person getting in) but if he discussed what the next administration might do, it was nothing really new or that Trump hadn't suggested.

I think they're trying to a-chip away at the shit around Trump and b-weaken his inner circle. IMO they need to get Bannon urgently. He and Trump must be frothing - I keep expecting a flurry of terrifying EOs as revenge.

They now have something solid on Flynn and Patriot Barbie. Whether or not they have something on Pence remains to be seen - if they have no proof he was aware of the extent of Flynn's discussions, then he is okay. I have no doubt Pence will happily throw Flynn to the lions - but does Flynn have enough to take a few of them down with him? That's the question.

So who would be a more palatable president? I don't know enough about the politicians in the States to have a guess.

I can't believe he's only been Prez for 3 weeks. Can you imagine how much destruction he could wreak in 4 years?!

I note that Ivanka Trump has been very quiet and pretty much unseen the last couple days in WH footage. Laying low until it blows over re her business? Or laying the groundwork for one that doesn't bear her name.

Mavis between Trump and Pence?? Pence, I suppose, as he at least has some government experience. He is not, however, a nice man at all. He is basically a religious fanatic who has a goal of overturning Roe v Wade. He does not like women, and thinks the LGBT community needs to be "cured" and that abortion should be utterly outlawed (although he will compromise with "illegal after the heartbeat can be heard or at 6 weeks pregnant"), which pretty much means no woman will be able to get an abortion. He also wants Planned Parenthood gone, along with contraception access for women. He's basically a caveman with a suit and a cross.
