It's quite interesting.
The UK has just left voted to leave a large union of countries where the collective power helps with negotations and which has an unelected leader and a central Court. We want to have more control over our laws and decisions.
The USA has a central President who presides over many States who have their own taxes, budgets and also receive federal funding. The President is telling them what to do and the States are fighting it so it goes to the Supreme Court.
I bet a lot of bigger States would love to have their own laws, their own Parliament and to make their own decisions - to take back control.
That would fuck up the mind of a Trump / Brexit supporter who opposed California seceding when you put the same arguments to them that a Brexit supporter used to leave the EU.
The EU and the USA have a lot in common. Probably far more than people like to think about...All those Americans who have the right to live anywhere in the USA, to cross state borders, to get funding and money from the richer states who pay more taxes....
