She seemed to be a very nice person - just about everyone who met her seemed to like her.
I feel sad as she was an anachronism: a young woman who was brought up not to earn her own living but just to live off her parents until she "caught" a rich husband. She was adept in all the skills a society wife would have - she looked good, played the piano, skied and rode well, was a witty conversationalist, and, most famously, was exactly the sort of person you wanted to come to your party. She was essentially like one of the Bennet sisters, although I am not sure which one.
Diana Spencer was another similar type. She had jobs but only part-time ones, which advertised what a good wife and mother she would be: cooking for dinner parties and nannying/working in a kindergarten. Like Tara, she was an extremely good pianist. Playing the piano is HARD, yet she failed all her O levels twice! You'd think if her school could teach her to play the piano well they would have been able to teach her to pass some exams, but presumably it wasn't seen to matter very much.
At least Kate M got a degree, although her only real job was actually "buying clothes" which is good experience for being a Royal, so maybe not that much different.
It's all very well being brought up not to get a proper job, if you do end up marrying a rich man. Tara is an example of when you don't. Just what can you do, when all your education and training has been for one thing only and for whatever reason it doesn't happen? I think she managed quite well. RIP Tara.
