I never feel cheerful about celebrities passing away, I did not know her, but she always striked me as a very sad girl, and her death is a bit of shock. She had so many opportunities, but did not seem to find her place. RIP Tara.

Yes, let's have some correct information about prolactinomas, including that they are not potentially fatal.

It was TPT, Tamara Beckwith and Anushka De Georgiou.

I sat quietly and summoned up all my memory powers. 😂

BingoBingoBingoBango · 08/02/2017 19:09

although they are considered to grow less fast. I think adults should have correct information about their health, and this is not scare mongering

Well seeing as I'm also a nurse and I'm well aware that it's controlled by medication and if that doesn't work they remove it, I'm fully informed thanks.

TPT also had other health problems.

Tara presumably ODd or had a heart attack from her years on coke. She might have done a Paula Yates and had a hit or two as a one-off while clean, forgotten she had no tolerance, and od'd by mistake.

Can't have died from the tumour, it wasn't malignant.

flyingwithwings · 08/02/2017 19:36

My CAT. Tara's attitude to benefits was born out of total ignorance, it is likely living in her circles that she had never met anyone who had ever been on benefits.

The attitude was just her bleating out probably her parents opinions. In many ways her ignorance of life was a 'handicap' people born in to such backgrounds have.

It is a bit sad because it is likely that if she had not been born in to such a 'wealthy' and connected family that she would never have held down a 'job' due to her Autism and therefore largely reliant on 'Benefits'

That is what 'Autism' does whether it is High Functioning or low functioning

I was at an event where she played piano - she was so good! Such a shame, her life just spiralled - too much life and the last few years were tough (and the media pretty hideous to her). Sad Sad

I'm very sad. I'm the same age as her and I think for our generation, seeing someone die...when you've kind of watched them grow up along with you through the media, is always going to hit you a bit.

She was a really typical member of Generation X in that she did a lot to excess and suffered the consequences.

I was only thinking of her a week ago and I followed her Twitter...she just popped into my mind and I thought "How's she doing?"

I'd seen some gossip thing in the paper...she was at an event in a wig and I thought "has she lost her hair?"

I see now that she probably had. I feel for all her family. 45 is too young.

Lizzzar · 09/02/2017 16:05

We don't know for sure why she died, but to say that she 'suffered the consequences' of her lifestyle seems excessively moralistic and unfair to me. Even if she did take a drug overdose, which there appears to be no evidence of, surely that would be tragic. Also, pituitary tumours can be fatal in rare cases, even if completely benign and unlikely to spread anywhere. Say, of the sake of argument, that it was benign. She still could have had a sudden hemorrhage causing potential fatal bleeding. The usual cause would be a severe headache, and emergency surgery might save life in that case. But as know one knows, and this must be awful for her friends and family, I think people should stop speculating. It seems in very bad taste to use a sudden death as an excuse to simply make comments about a lifestyle regarded by some as too privileged.

BalloonSlayer · 09/02/2017 17:18

She seemed to be a very nice person - just about everyone who met her seemed to like her.

I feel sad as she was an anachronism: a young woman who was brought up not to earn her own living but just to live off her parents until she "caught" a rich husband. She was adept in all the skills a society wife would have - she looked good, played the piano, skied and rode well, was a witty conversationalist, and, most famously, was exactly the sort of person you wanted to come to your party. She was essentially like one of the Bennet sisters, although I am not sure which one. Hmm

Diana Spencer was another similar type. She had jobs but only part-time ones, which advertised what a good wife and mother she would be: cooking for dinner parties and nannying/working in a kindergarten. Like Tara, she was an extremely good pianist. Playing the piano is HARD, yet she failed all her O levels twice! You'd think if her school could teach her to play the piano well they would have been able to teach her to pass some exams, but presumably it wasn't seen to matter very much.

At least Kate M got a degree, although her only real job was actually "buying clothes" which is good experience for being a Royal, so maybe not that much different.

It's all very well being brought up not to get a proper job, if you do end up marrying a rich man. Tara is an example of when you don't. Just what can you do, when all your education and training has been for one thing only and for whatever reason it doesn't happen? I think she managed quite well. RIP Tara.

ChishandFips33 · 10/02/2017 19:03

I've just heard about Tara dying - so sad. She seemed so down to earth...I grew to like her after her stint on I'm a celebrity - she was bonkers but so likeable!

I don't normally feel affected by a celebrity death, but for some reason hearing the news about Tara has made me sad - she always seemed so lost

Hope you're finally at peace Tara Flowers

helpimitchy · 10/02/2017 19:10

Here

Apparently she was autistic. I never knew that. It is sad that she's died.

derxa · 10/02/2017 19:11

All sorts of self indulgent stories coming out. Please let her RIP

HappyFlappy · 10/02/2017 20:23

to say that she 'suffered the consequences' of her lifestyle seems excessively moralistic and unfair to me

But we all know that lifestyle massively affects health. If someone overeats they become obese with the attendant health problems; if they smoke they are more likely to suffer lung cancer; if they drink they risk liver, throat and bowel problems; if they neglect dental hygiene their teeth, gums (and more) will be affected.

Why is it judgemental to comment on it? It doesn't mean that we don't sympathise - it is just a remark.
