I never feel cheerful about celebrities passing away, I did not know her, but she always striked me as a very sad girl, and her death is a bit of shock. She had so many opportunities, but did not seem to find her place. RIP Tara.

OP posts:

I didnt know her personally. So what if we speculate? She looked a mess recently. I hardly recognised her as the same person. I would have said so had she still been alive.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/02/2017 17:03

Oh, that's so sad! Poor family. I've been a fan ever since she was so brave and upbeat about her recovery from drug addiction, which must be 20 years ago now. She totally owned it, took responsibility for her addiction, and she showed TV audiences how happy being clean and sober had made her.

I'm a very long-term sober alcoholic and my sobriety has brought me so much happiness. I identified with TPT and was glad for her.

However there have been reports in the media of recent years about her being lonely and never finding happiness. Tbh I do hope she died of a tumour rather than, as I fear, from going back on drugs or drink. Addiction has a hideously high death rate and it's such a degrading way to go. Sad

I was going to defend OP but Cooljazz has already done it.

I don't think any unkindness or insult was meant. Stop picking on her.

LightastheBreeze · 08/02/2017 17:11

I liked her, she seemed nice when she was in I'm a celebrity, get me out of here and I'm sure she came second in it, i also saw her in some celebrity singing show and she came across well in that also.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 08/02/2017 17:17

I feel sad too, she was part of an 'it' girl crowd of socialites when I was younger, and I used to secretly enjoy reading about their exploits.

pineapplesplit · 08/02/2017 17:20

YANBU it IS sad.

Does it really matter that it's in AIBU?
OP is obviously a bit sad so just back off.
I hoped she'd find peace as she matured. Hopefully she's at peace now. RIP.

dontbesillyhenry · 08/02/2017 17:27

I think it's a bit strange you are so upset you needed to stop doing what you are paid to do to 'talk about it' to people if I'm honest.

glueandstick · 08/02/2017 17:32

She was very much part of my childhood education. Remember an article on her in Clothes Show magazine (I loved that magazine) alongside Anushka someone holding a fluffy dog. Left a lasting impression.

It sounds dramatic but reading about her helped me 'learn' how to be a different person and has led me to some interesting places.

Italiangreyhound · 08/02/2017 17:39

Very sad, poor woman, that is so young.

I cannot believe some people can argue about almost anything.! AIBU is used because it gets traffic, if you don't want to be part of the traffic, don't post!

bulletjournal YA totally NOT being unreasonable. It is sad.

flyingwithwings · 08/02/2017 17:40

I think people need to read this article, to get an understanding.

ArriettyClock1 · 08/02/2017 17:52

Very sad, she was a true English eccentric and seemed to live a troubled life.

Last interview I read with her, I remember thinking how unwell she looked.

DameVanillaSugar · 08/02/2017 17:59

Yay! Can't have an AIBU without a bunfight.

Poor Tara. No, OP YADNBU and ignore the pp who are Hmm.

The poor girl just needed a job. She had far too much money and not enough decent friends. I feel incredibly sad too Sad

mycatwantstokillme1 · 08/02/2017 18:04

I had no opinion on her until I met her at a TV debate on benefits. She was scathing and unsupportive of people on benefits, particularly mothers which I thought was rich given that she had no idea what it was like to struggle bringing up kids and it put me right off her. But YANBU. I'm sure nobody is happy she's died so young.

Titsywoo · 08/02/2017 18:09

It's sad when anyone dies for a persons family and friends. Not sure why you would find it upsetting though OP? I mean in any more than a passing "oh what a sad story" way.

I think the way it's being reported like she died from a brain tumour is terrible. A non malignant pituitary tumour can't kill you. And I bet people out there who have one are going to be scared by this inaccurate story.

She did an awful lot of drugs in the past so it's likely that was a cause but unfair of me to speculate so I'll shut up!

Lizzzar · 08/02/2017 18:13

It is sad that she has died relatively young. I hope they do a full autopsy. It does seem unusual to die from an apparently benign brain tumor - but I understand it occasionally happens, or maybe she was misdiagnosed.

GarrulousGrimoire · 08/02/2017 18:20

Oh that's a shame and no I didn't know.

Nor am I devastated to find out via AIBU Hmm leave OP alone.

She was a big part of my teenage years, we all sort of hated her but wanted to be her. The original IT girl with far more class than the Geordie Shore's of today.

RIP TPT

Bitlost · 08/02/2017 18:22

Very, very sad. RIP TPT.

MadisonAvenue · 08/02/2017 18:26

YANBU. It's very sad.

BingoBingoBingoBango · 08/02/2017 18:26

I have a non malignant pituitary tumour and it can't kill you but thanks for the scare mongering.

Rugbyplayersarehot · 08/02/2017 18:28

glue me too was her surname Hemple? Seem to remember that.

Lizzzar · 08/02/2017 18:35

Anything that grows out of control can kill you, whether it is classed as benign or malignant. People have died from non- malignant tumors, although they are considered to grow less fast. I think adults should have correct information about their health, and this is not scare mongering.

Titsywoo · 08/02/2017 18:40

Lizzar that may be the case in a tiny number of cases but since hers had been diagnosed and was being watched and treated it's very very unlikely.

skerrywind · 08/02/2017 18:50

Time will tell what the cause of death was.
