I'd say magnesium. Helps my sleep and makes me feel less anxious.

It takes a while for Vit D to work. I take a probiotic which I think does help my gut I suffer from IBS. Floridix made a huge difference to my exhaustion at period time. I stopped for one month and I noticed a massive difference.

SavageBeauty73 · 07/02/2017 18:00

Magnesium has helped my insomnia so much.

thecolonelbumminganugget · 07/02/2017 18:06

Berocca (which is mostly b vitamins and vitamin c I think) I have so much more energy when I have a berocca a day. It's like I'm superwoman!

glueandstick · 07/02/2017 18:09

Juniper berry steeped in a neutral alcohol.

EastMidsGPs · 07/02/2017 18:12

Liquid Magnesium and vitamin D spray.

Magnesium certainly helps me sleep

Pleasemrstweedie · 07/02/2017 18:15

@glueandstick has the right idea.

Vitamin D for me. Severe fibromyalgia - gone!

WildBelle · 07/02/2017 18:37

Monolaurin. Amazing for energy levels and immune system. Anti viral too. I'm normally the first to get ill if there's something going around but haven't been ill all winter, despite everyone else dropping like flies around me.

MollyHuaCha · 07/02/2017 18:42

D!

Roomba · 07/02/2017 18:45

Vitamin D3 cured my suspected fibromyalgia. My levels were undetectable when checked.

Iron stopped me feeling like death, looking so pale I was almost green tinged, having palpitations and having to stop three times when walking upstairs due to breathlessness! Oh and my hair stopped falling out in very alarming handfuls too.

Willyoujustbequiet · 07/02/2017 19:19

Ofudging why do you have to avoid iron with a thyroid problem? Only asking as I have thyroid issues but just been presecribed high dose iron.

dementedma · 07/02/2017 19:21

High dose cod liver oil Omega 3 has made a huge difference to aching joints, especially in my fingers.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 07/02/2017 19:27

Another vite for magnesium. But it has to be the ionic liquid sort: so much easier to absorb.
Helped anxiety, insomnia and random muscle pains.

Lonelynessie · 07/02/2017 19:29

Iron, Vit D and B12 - life changing for me.

opheliaamongthelillies · 07/02/2017 19:30

Gin! That is all.

MichaelSheensNextDW · 07/02/2017 19:30

Willyoujustbequiet iron supplements should be taken four hours before or after levothyroxine (advice given to me by my pharmacist - I have Hashimoto's and megaloblastic anaemia so need both).

Kennington · 07/02/2017 19:31

Due to iron deficient anemia - iron, long term low levels.
Vit d as I do office work and wear spf
Magnesium also helped me sleep. I think there is a mechanism but otherwise a good placebo.

EpoxyResin · 07/02/2017 19:39

Folic acid cleared my lifelong acne on my face and back. At first I thought it was pregnancy that had banished it - my skin never looked so good! Until I realised it was the folic acid :D wish I'd known that in my teens and twenties.

And another vote for magnesium for anxiety and restless legs.

Derlei · 07/02/2017 19:46

Great thread thank you. I've been worried about my lack of energy and can definitely relate to the "being out of breath going up the stairs" feeling. I thought it me just getting unfit, as I'm doing less exercise generally while on maternity leave. I feel old, and I'm only early 30s
I will get my Vit D and Iron levels checked out

haveacupoftea · 07/02/2017 19:46

Magnesium for me too. Helped stabilise my moods, helped with everything. I dont usually notice a difference with vitamins but magnesium is great.

Derlei · 07/02/2017 19:47

Sorry forgot to ask : those of you on vitamins, did you self-prescribe based on what you read, or did you get yourself checked out properly by the GP through tests?

user1482874333 · 07/02/2017 19:50

Vitamin D has been life changing for me. 5000iu per day.

Rachel0Greep · 07/02/2017 19:52

Just another one to add, and yes, I agree re iron and vitamin B...have had to take both at various times.

Lysine for preventing / helping to heal cold sores.

user892 · 07/02/2017 19:52

Calcium helps me sleep if I take it before bed. Magnesium got rid of restless legs. Will try bit b12 complex as maybe not as good as multivit?

user892 · 07/02/2017 19:53

Self prescribed Derlei

HerBluebiro · 07/02/2017 19:59

Those of you on very high dose vit d please be cautious.

Unlike water soluble vitamins (b c etc) it is possible to overdose on vitamin d. And it can cause problems. Especially in children. There was a recent death of a child from vitamin d overdose.

Yes we are likely to be deficient. Especially we should all consider a supplement. But very high dose may not be safe
