To think that absolutely nobody needs to take their chicken pox child to Primark?

I was in Primark this afternoon and heard a lady having a conversation with a child of about 3 or 4 "Look at your chicken pox sweetheart they're getting much worse aren't they? That's ok, we'll be done with our shopping soon". Said child has a good dozen spots on her face. 20 minutes later, her, mum, brother and grandma are still strolling around Primark. Now, I'm last of the paranoid parents and I can see that there may be occasions when a parent may need to take a chicken poxy child out but to Primark with a crowd, Really?

That's sooooo unreasonable of them, it's still contagious if the scabs are increasing in number!

Urgh. My DD had chickenpox over new year and we didn't go anywhere until she was properly scabby. I even prevailed upon a number of friends willing victims to help out with school runs for the older two non-scabby ones. Chickenpox can be very very serious for anyone with a poor immune system.

It's incredibly selfish and irresponsible. I'd like to think it's just ignorance on the part of the parents, but some of them must know how dangerous it is for certain people to be exposed to CP and just don't give a shit. Plus there's a good chance the child is feeling rubbish and could do without being dragged around sodding Primark.

FFS, theres 2 adults one could stay at home with the kids. When DD had it I didnt leave the house. My DN got very ill from chicken pox. Its not some piddly annoying illness, its bloody serious.

Guess some people just can't wait to get their cheap fashion fix and no child's illness is gonna get in the way of that

I had chicken pox in my 20's and was so ill with it, much worse than if you have it in childhood apparently. My housemate had an existing condition and when he caught chicken pox he developed complications and very nearly died. Our other housemate was very sensible and had already had it so she had to nurse both of us back to health bless her. Anyway, we and several other people had caught it from this girl who decided to go out clubbing and was very huggy and either didn't know or care that she could be infecting others.
That parent in Primark was completely irresponsible and very U for dragging her child round.

I think a lot of people these days have no clue when it comes to things like this.

Not long ago I mentioned to someone that their child was contagious and shouldn't really be out (in context I was offering to go to the chemist for them to get some virus foam stuff) and they got all very dramatic told me I was being ridiculous,why on earth shouldn't they go out,they were not going to inprison their child like an animal and how dare I suggest they should.

They then called me a cunt. Granted she was a little over the top BUT the conversation involved a lot of other people (it was online) and not one of them appeared to have a clue that it was not a great move

Makes me so cross especially as we have been told today that a child at my child's school has just died of chickenpox complications.

There seems to be a scary amount of people who don't realise how serious chicken pox CAN be. It's very much seen as a run of the mill childhood illness that is a right of passage. For many people it is, but not for everyone.

Oh Foody that's just so incredibly sad. And yet people still have chicken pox parties.

There was a mnetter who told of a woman she knew who took her child to a pox party. Child now in her 20's with life long complications from the pox virus. Why willingly risk your child and others to an illness potentially damaging?

Complain to Primark that they did not ask the people to leave.

Mind you, anyone with any self respect or a conscience would not shop in Primark to begin with.

I can imagine the long horse faced photos on the daily mail now ' primark demanded leave the store with sick baby!?!'

DH wanted to take DD to a friends whose child had it last week. I said no! We have no idea how she will react and he isn't the one who will be sat at home with her and a bored DS to avoid infecting others.

On a similar note a friend told me her sons both had what she thought might be norovirus and she would take both along to the doctors to her youngests unrelated appointment and get the doctors opinion.
I am sure the other patients really appreciated it.

It's not that bad.

That's horrible, it just doesn't make sense. When DC had chickenpox we stayed home until he'd fully recovered, I can't imagine taking him out and about and the fact that pox parties exist is just awful imo.
