I have hardly slept, was just drifting off and my neighbour decides to put out their bins. This involves bumping the bins down a couple of steps which of course can't be done quietly!
Aibu to think that putting out your bins any time before 7am is just inconsiderate?

YANBU.

I get annoyed too.

most of us put our bins out at night, (collection at 7am)although one decides at 2am every week, waking everyone up. and another at 5 am.

as for recycling bins and windy weather, why not do what we do and put your food bin on top of the recycling? thatw asy the stuff doesn't blow everywhere. and doesn't everyone have plastic bins?

foxes shouldn't be able to get into them.

and our binmen are really quiet, have to say, we hardly hear them.

kierenthecommunity · 06/02/2017 16:14

what's a food bin? like food waste? we don't have those here

and if you put as much as a brick on your bin here the binmen get arsey and refuse to empty it

DevelopingDetritus I have also learn't a few things from this thread.
I have always lived in areas where the done thing was/is to put the bins out the night before, it never occurred to me that people wouldn't be allowed to put their bins out until the morning.
I don't know my neighbours well enough to ask them not to do it in the mornings and they seem to work odd shifts so maybe, as someone said, doing it on their way to work is the only time that they get to do it.
Thank you for the feel better wishes, hopefully I will get a better nights sleep tonight.

They probably put them out before they go to work.

DevelopingDetritus · 06/02/2017 18:38

why not do what we do and put your food bin on top of the recycling? That did make me laugh, our food bin and recycle bin are the same size, big wheelie bins like this.

YABU

My bins get collected abywhere between about 6am and noon, but I work shifts, so some weeks I can be getting home from work at midnight/1am and other weeks I can be leaving for work at 5/6am ... other times I'm working during the day and just forget, but I put my bin out when it suits me and when I get a minute.

drinkswineoutofamug · 06/02/2017 19:50

I'm guilty of putting my bins out at 6am when I leave for work. The foot path outside my house isn't wide enough to put them out the night before. I put up with my neighbours continuous diy so fairs fair

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 06/02/2017 21:50

Well, I'm in England and have always lived in areas where we'd put our rubbish out (in bin bags, put in the wheelie bin) the night before so as not to disturb the neighbours early in the morning. Unless people are going to get told off by the council for doing that then I think they're inconsiderate to lug them out at the crack of dawn! YANBU OP.

Ruprecthepanbasher · 06/02/2017 22:13

Oh dear, I wouldn't be popular. I often put the bins out at 11pm, hoover at 8am, mow the lawn at 9pm... It's life unfortunately when you work.

People work shifts, or odd hours. Before children we had very strange jobs- I often did overnights, so 9-5, sleepover, 9-5, home and DH would do 2pm-5am and would do the bins if bin day was a sleepover for me.
People complained that the bins were "cluttering up the street" if he put them out at 1.30pm en route to work. They complained about noise if he put them out at 5.30am on return home! We couldn't win, and eventually moved (then got more normal jobs)

Once our move had been confirmed we took to leaving them at the end of the drive the whole time. The neighbourhood was scandalised Grin

AngryGinger · 07/02/2017 11:59

We put ours out when we leave for work, any time between half 5 and 7am, I'm not sure it's crime of the century and hardly your neighbours fault that you did not sleep well. Having said that, being tired can make you extra cranky, so I can see why it did annoy you. It is just a fact of life though.
