to think putting your bins out at 5.50am is bloody inconsiderate!

I have hardly slept, was just drifting off and my neighbour decides to put out their bins. This involves bumping the bins down a couple of steps which of course can't be done quietly!
Aibu to think that putting out your bins any time before 7am is just inconsiderate?

Rainbow, I live in Australia, so I hope the bin men get penalty rates ( as they call working on a public holiday)

Funnyface1 · 06/02/2017 09:09

If the bins have to be out that early then I would do it the night before, that's what my entire street does. Hate inconsiderate people.

YABU. Some people go to work at that time, in the real world.

I have to put the bins out before 6am rather than the night before because otherwise "helpful" people walking down my road add to my bins, or scatter the rubbish, or otherwise make a mess, at 2am when they walking home from the clubs.

Bettyspants · 06/02/2017 09:23

You realise not everyone gets up at the same time as you?

SherlockPotter · 06/02/2017 09:27

Ours have to be in the gates/on the pavement by 6am, as the bin men can come anytime between 6am and 12pm. Maybe they forgot last night? If you forget to put the bin out and they empty your streets bin, you can't have your bin emptied for another 2 weeks!

ijustwannadance · 06/02/2017 09:29

Bins in old house were collected about 12 pm so had time in the morning if forgotton night before.
Now the bins have been emptied before my 7.15 wake up alarm. They go out the night before, after tea.

limitedperiodonly · 06/02/2017 09:32

It is a bit annoying. Maybe they have no other time to do it, but some people can be oblivious to the noise they're making or make a virtue of out of being up and around really early being busy, while everybody else is loafing in bed - my dad, husband and BIL.

I put my recycling bags out on the pavement at 6pm yesterday - that's allowed and we have no ninja foxes or random fly tipping clubbers round here. Officially, the binmen come round from 7am, but in reality they get to me at about 10.30am. It's just that the recycling was all bagged up and ready to go and I didn't want to look at it any more.

maddiemookins16mum · 06/02/2017 09:35

I sometimes put ours out at 6am, on the mornings I leave at 6.30am. They aren't emptied until lunchtime. I usually try and do it the night before though but sometimes forget.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 06/02/2017 09:36

the problem is your sleep! not your poor neighbour who clearly has a job that starts early

myfavouritecolourispurple · 06/02/2017 09:37

Ours have to be out by 6.30 so people put them out the night before.

limitedperiodonly · 06/02/2017 09:40

Round here there are armies of streetsweepers who take their jobs so seriously they also pick moss out of the gaps between the paving stones.

I front almost directly onto the pavement and was regularly woken at 6am by the clanging of his spade. I asked him to give it a miss and he said they were meant to do it but seeing as I'd asked nicely he'd leave it until the next shift came round at about 10am.

If there is a My Diamond Shoes Are Too Tight Award going I'd like to nominate myself Wink

Fluffy40 · 06/02/2017 09:45

I finish work at eleven pm, I'm not getting up early to do bins

GabsAlot · 06/02/2017 09:51

Yes YABU but you've not had much sleep so it's forgiveable FlowersBrew

HateSummer · 06/02/2017 10:45

I put mine out at 1am sometimes. It's 2 seconds of noise. Who cares. Yabu, why don't you sleep on time?

DevelopingDetritus · 06/02/2017 15:11

Well, I've learnt 3 things by this thread, I've never heard of landfill day, I didn't realise some places don't allow bins out the night before and collections on Christmas day. This isn't the UK is it?

Mia1415 · 06/02/2017 15:40

I leave for work at 6am most mornings so I'm guilty of putting my bins out this early. Plus they can come and collect them any time from 6.30am ish.

Sorry YABU

Fortifiedwithvitaminsandiron · 06/02/2017 15:42

YABU

kali110 · 06/02/2017 15:44

Your lucky you can put your bins out the night before!
Ours go out early as we work when rhe bin men come, so sometimes that is before 7am!
Feel better op!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/02/2017 15:47

YABU we're not supposed to put them out the night before so I bring them up the drive when I'm going to work at 6.30

kierenthecommunity · 06/02/2017 15:50

I once put ours out (and our neighbours, we share a drive) at 4am as I got in from work then and none of the three other functioning adults in the two houses had done it, and sometimes the bin wagon comes at 7am before anyone is up and about

It was snowing too, it had taken me ages to get home. to say I was pissed off is not an exaggeration

If I woke any of them, I admit I would have not have given two shits

FireInTheHead · 06/02/2017 16:04

Sorry, another YABU - although that doesn't make it not suck after a bad night - here we can put bins out night before and everyone does but where we were before had to be the morning of collection so we had to do it before we left for work around 5.30am.
