to think putting your bins out at 5.50am is bloody inconsiderate!

I have hardly slept, was just drifting off and my neighbour decides to put out their bins. This involves bumping the bins down a couple of steps which of course can't be done quietly!
Aibu to think that putting out your bins any time before 7am is just inconsiderate?

One of my neighbours puts their bins out about midnight and this wakens me up every time.

ptumbi · 06/02/2017 07:19

Seriously? Seriously??

Aren't we lucky to live in a country where we can have our rubbish taken away fortnightly and not have to do it ourselves, or leave it to blow about in the county.

Some countries don't have rubbish collection.

Sorry you don't sleep well

atheistmantis · 06/02/2017 07:21

We aren't supposed to put the bins out the night before and they have to be out by 6am. When else are we supposed to do it?

SellFridges · 06/02/2017 07:22

Ours get collected by 6;30am most weeks. That's noisy. YABU.

doubletrouble41 · 06/02/2017 07:22

Are you our next door neighbour? Blush we tend to forget that they need to be out till babies wake us at 5ish, then worry we won't get them out for 7am with all the mayhem. Doubt anyone chooses to be lugging a bin around at 5 in the morning if they have a choice.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2017 07:23

When it is landfill day you would have been woken up at 6 by the bin men making far more noise than one bin bumping down steps.

Putting a bin out at that time is not "bloody inconsiderate" it is simply mildly irritating.

Hope your back gets better so. Back pain is shit!

echt · 06/02/2017 07:23

A pain for you, OP, though you could live where I am where the bins are collected at 6.00.a.m.Shock And I can hear them approaching on other streets at 5.30.

To be fair, the bins are always collected on the same day without fail, even if that day is Christmas.

Trainspotting1984 · 06/02/2017 07:26

You've got to put them out before work haven't you? People forget the night before. No biggie but sucks when you haven't slept

ifyoulikepinacolada · 06/02/2017 07:32

I think yabu but i can see why because it's horrible not being able to sleep! I hope your back feels better soon Flowers

RainbowSparkles · 06/02/2017 07:36

I've had coffee now! I know I am being unreasonable.
In my defence I hadn't had much sleep and have a fair bit of back pain so am very cranky.
It is normal on my road to put the bins out the night before but this neighbour does it varying early hours every week so I am used to being woken up but can usually go straight back to sleep.
PtumbI - it's every week here
Echt - Christmas day? I hope they get paid extra

I don't put my bins out the night before at this time of year. When it gets windy it means rubbish is strewn all round our cul de sac. But then I think I live in an odd place - my neighbours puts my bins and recycling boxes out when they leave for work (630ish) and I take mine and theirs back in when they have been emptied. We also use each others bins if our own are overflowing Shock

Christmasnoooooooooooo · 06/02/2017 07:48

My bin men come at 530 so I get woken regardless

Oblomov17 · 06/02/2017 07:48

Nonsense, us too!! We clearly live in a MN 'blind-spot'. Wink

dudsville · 06/02/2017 07:53

Our rubbish is corrected at 6 30 am but our bin has a little house by the street so it is always there. I don't know what my neighbours do but I'd hate listening to them do that!

Mol1628 · 06/02/2017 07:53

YABU.

usernumbernonsense · 06/02/2017 07:56

Oblomov We must be neighbours - this surely can't happen anywhere else going by the threads on here Shock Grin

usernumbernonsense · 06/02/2017 07:57

my binmen also empty the brown bin if I have filled it with black sacks after having a clear out, in return for donuts

OliviaStabler · 06/02/2017 08:11

YANBU. No reason to make noise that early, they can put them out the evening before like everyone else.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2017 08:23

they can put them out the evening before like everyone else.

How do you know they can?

expatinscotland · 06/02/2017 08:25

YABU

usernumbernonsense · 06/02/2017 08:28

As I said earlier -- depending on the weather, putting the bins out the night before can result in tipped over bins and rubbish everywhere hence why me and neighbours don't and instead put each others out in the morning.

PollyPerky · 06/02/2017 08:39

YANBU

Almost all of our neighbours put the bins out the night before so they don't miss the early collection.

I'd have a word with them and ask if they realise.

Doglikeafox · 06/02/2017 08:50

I think YABU. I put my bins out whatever at time I can. Only last few my partner and I both had to be somewhere very early in the morning, so put our bins out at around 5. The noise might have been disturbing for the 30 seconds it takes to get from the garden to the pavement, but that is life unfortunately.
The alternative was to wait two weeks for them to come againHmm

RachelRagged · 06/02/2017 08:53

Ninja foxes ? We have a load of them here and not once has a fox interfered with my bin , nor anyone elses I know. I guess if you overfill them so the lid cannot shut is a different story though .

Mine go out the night before if I remember (I did last night) or about 7.00 in the morning if I had forgotten.

FurryLittleTwerp · 06/02/2017 08:57

Ours have to be out by seven, but the bin men come at half eleven, so I put them out at half seven, you know, once I'm actually up & dressed!

Once they came early because they were covering two rounds as a one off - we heard them clattering about, rushed down in dressing gowns with bags of rubbish & the lovely men were helping themselves to the bin & explained why they were so early Grin

If I put mine out the night before, they are at risk of blowing over as we are in a windy corner!
